Finding Women Part II: Get ’em Where They Live

It’s not hard to think outside the box when you’re looking for new places to meet women. Just remember that wherever you go in your daily routine, there are bound to be women there, too. The key is to turn off that white noise of business and sports in your mind that shuts down your powers of observation so you can “see” them wherever you go.

At checkout counters everywhere.

Leave your iPod in the car when you run into the drug store, hardware store or dentist office. Check out the ladies at nearly every checkout counter and reception desk in town. Sure, they’re not doctors or lawyers, but they might be putting themselves through law school or writing the great American novel.

Forget about that “status and role” relationship that puts a wall between you and the perky pharmacist, and look beyond the white lab coat at the lady inside. Smile! Compliment her! Maybe the only thing you can see is her eyeglasses or fashionable fingernails — so tell her how nice they are. If you get a blushing response, then ask how often she’s there. OK, so half of them might already be “taken” by another guy, but your investment is very small and the risk to your ego is negligible.

Shoppers assistance.

Places like the Home Depot provide endless opportunities to help a damsel in distress. There she is — a 5-foot-4-inch dream in tight jeans and 5-inch heels staring blankly at a wall of doorknobs or faucet parts. Just swoop in with a little life-saving advice and even offer to install it.

Always be prepared with a pen and other people’s old business cards so you can write down your email and cell number (cell phone, not jail cell) on the back along with your first name — just in case she needs any more advice. The personal touch is always better than a pre-printed card, even if you have one. She might be too abashed to call you, but sending you an email or text is much less threatening for her.

The flip side of this scenario, of course, is to ask a woman for help or assistance when you need it. Ask her how to pick a good melon or which spaghetti sauce to buy — you name it. Women love to help just as much as men do. Then, when she points you toward the best sauce, you can give her your email address to send you her lasagna recipe. Sweet!

“Women truly are everywhere.”

Must love dogs.

Dogs and jogs also provide excellent opportunities for meeting the ladies. Try your neighborhood dog park, and pay attention to the places where the young lovelies might stop to rest with their dogs or after their jogs.

When the girl of your dreams leads her pup to the big shade tree, go over and compliment her pet and ask about the breed or how old it is. Women often subscribe to the belief that their dogs are great judges of a man’s character, so it might not hurt to slip a little piece of bacon in your sock and have a doggie treat in your pocket. If you get the dog’s approval, hers will be a lot easier.

If she’s a jogger, you can’t approach her at 10 mph and try to holler over Bruno Mars on her headphones. Instead, try holding out an icy cold bottle of water as she approaches your position, and then be around at her finish line so she can thank you.

Just about any place where you see a woman is a good place to meet her. Hold her groceries while she opens her trunk, drop in for the coffee and donuts after church, take a night class at the community college, ask for product advice at the hair salon, or just ask if you can join her at her table in the coffee shop. Women truly are everywhere, and there is definitely at least one who would love to spend some time with a great guy like you.
