I Can’t Perform in the Bedroom. Do You Have Any Suggestions?

Reader Question:

I’ve been divorced a little over a year. During that time, I have become a full diabetic and can’t perform like I should in the bedroom. It’s really depressing and it has stopped me from dating at all.

Do you have any suggestions?

-George (Virginia)

Dr. Wendy Walsh’s Answer:

Dear George,

My heart breaks for you. Not because you aren’t fully able to be sexual, but because you think this excludes you from finding a mate at all.

Here’s some news you may have come across: Not all women value penetration as their favorite sexual act, and a fulfilling sex life can include everything else but.

The bigger issue here isn’t your body but your mindset. I hope you can begin to think of yourself as a caring, loving, committed potential partner – rather than a disabled human.

There are plenty of women out there who value honesty, trust and fidelity above sexuality. Lead with your big head and you’ll find what you deserve.
