I Was Born With a Hunchback. Can Women Like Me?

Reader Question:

I have Kyphosis or hunchback. This deformity makes me anxious and shy around women. Can women like me even with this problem?

-Jason (California)

Dr. Wendy Walsh’s Answer:

Yes! But here’s the caveat: Women can love you despite your body-type variation only if you can love yourself. And that proves true for everyone.

We can’t truly find love, accept love and truly feel loved until we can love ourselves. Our relationship with our self is the most important relationship in our life.

    This is so sad :(

Aw don’t worry, Jason. Not everybody’s perfect. We all have our insecurities and there’ll be someone out there who will love you for who you are! If it helps, my mom has 6 toes (something fairly common) and met my step dad like any normal group of strangers would. He’s been with her for 6 months and they seem very happy, regardless of the extra piggie.

Hi Jason. Not sure when you wrote this, but I have lived with kyphosis a long tie, and I understand how you feel. I am in my 50′s now, and I struggle with how men see me. Don’t lose hope! I am sure there will be someone who can look past it! It makes up truly unique!
