How Long Should I Chat With a Match Before Meeting?

Chatting online can be a great way to get to know someone because you are focusing completely on what the other person is saying instead of what they look like or how nervous you are. However, just because you’ve been chatting with someone every night for the past week, doesn’t mean this person is who they say they are.

Make sure you have at least asked the basics – where are they from, what’s their occupation. Do a background check to confirm their answers. Only you can determine if you are comfortable enough to take the conversation into the real world. Meet with them in a public place during the day. Try to plan it during a lunch break so you have a set time of when you have to leave to get back to work. This will give you time to get to know each other in person while still giving you an excuse, if you need one, to leave. Don’t feel pressured to meet someone until you are absolutely ready.
