My girlfriend and I are in our 30s – we’ve been dating for 3 mo., and are serious enough that we’ve spoken of being together for a very long time and eventually buying a house. But she hasn’t met my folks. The other complication: she has health issues – neuromuscular + a susceptibility to viruses, allergies, exhaustion. As such she will occasionally, though not always, change or forestall plans. I’ve never minded – I’m sensitive to her situation. But it hasn’t yet involved other people. Tomorrow we were supposed to meet my mom and stepdad for dinner and a 1x film screening of one of my favorite movies. Then, this afternoon, she told me she feels exhausted and may want to stay at home tomorrow and cook for herself. Tomorrow is important to me. Really important. Now my mom and stepdad have said, well, we’ll all do this without her. Bummer. I want to be sensitive and supportive, not a controlling asshole. I know she really IS sick – she looked like hell last week. Should I just drop it?
