I dated a girl when I was in 11th grade, age 16. She waws 17. She was amazing and beautiful and sweet and awesome. Well, I had little control over my situation then, so I went wherever the adults decided I would go. I had to leave her behind. I couldn’t help it, I cried every night over her. We stayed in touch via e-mail, but around the time I turned 19, I found out she had been with another guy for at least a year. I found this out right after I freaking proposed to her, because I wanted to be with her forever. Now she’s just another facebook friend that happens to make me tear up whenever she pops up on my feed. It’s been two years since she broke up with me and I still can’t get over it. I’m 21 now. I don’t think any girl can replace her. No one is as amazing as she was to me. What should I do? I don’t want to be alone for the rest of my life. But I doubt she will ever love me again.

There is nothing like your first love! Your love introduced you to feelings you never imagined before and it is absolutely amazing! When that love comes to an end you feel as if you will never feel that way again, but I am here to tell you to not give up! Sometimes people have a way of coming back into your life in ways that you never imagined to have an even deeper impact than the first time around. Other times people are in our lives only for a season to teach us some really compelling lessons that we can carry with us for the rest of our lives. It seems as if your first love may be the latter example but only time will tell. But now you have youth on your side! You have a chance to continue to become the person you want to be, to learn who you really are and to improve upon yourself if need be. You have a chance for your best self to meet someone awesome. This can be your new beginning! All the very best!
