Is she really only seeking a "casual companion"?

Recently, I met a lady at a Group outside event. As soon as I arrived, she approached my car and began asking me questions, seemingly only to make conversation. She stayed near me for the entire 6 hour event and talked constantly to me, asking many personal questions. I like her, so several days later I called and asked her to meet me at a park to walk and afterwards dinner at a restaurant. She again talked almost nonstop to me and again asked very personal questions. She also made it clear (without my asking) that she liked her independence and only wants a “companion”. I don’t intend to live alone the rest of my life. My wife died two years ago. Would I probably be wasting my time with her, considering what she said about “independence” and “only wanting a companion”?

P.S. I omitted above that she texted me, following the first Group meeting, before I called her, stating that she would like to meet again and do something.
