Practically lost it all and then met someone new

I’m probably at the best time in my life and the worst. Starting with the latter, I ended up failing out of nursing school two weeks ago. Then, at a mixer my friends invited me to out of consolation, I met probably the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known. We hit it off and have been out together and also in group functions.

I know my priorities now are to get a job to start paying back student debt I incurred, and then reapply next year. I’m not getting any younger, I’m 38 and while I don’t look it, I know the clock is ticking.

I have not disclosed all this to her yet because I’ve kept things on a positive note. My dilemma here is, how do I fit her in and pick up the pieces at the same time? There’s a lot we connect on, but I’m taking it a day at a time with the situation like it is. My friends know, but she doesn’t. I know she’ll have to be told at some point, and I’m all about honesty. How should I handle this?

I don’t know how close you guys are or how many times you’ve hungout but if it’s nothing exclusive at the time being, then don’t feel bad if she doesn’t know all the different things going on in your life. If I were you I would make sure my focus was on school, and if it works out in the end, that’s great! Just don’t build up hopes that might come crashing down.
