    statutory rape

I am 30, male. My 15 years old niece is hitting on me. Some days back, first she asked me to open porn on my laptop, which I denied and told her to use her own phone for whatever she wanted to do. Then some days back, she sent me a sexual text on watsapp, asking me to show her my male parts. That message came by surprise on one day and I let that incident go by replying with a smiley. Yesterday, in a gathering of family, I was standing alone in kitchen, she came and tried to grab my male parts. For 5 seconds, I let her do that, but immediately after that, I realised that it was totally wrong, I pushed her away. Now, I am back on my laptop and writing this. Am I going to jail for stat rape? What if someone knows about this, especially our parents? That would be very shameful for me. If she keeps doing that, then one day I might positively respond/ return her sexual favours. I am just being honest here because I am just a normal male person with my own fantasies, not with minors at all.

Admittedly, you should not have let the situation go as far as her to touch your genitals. Remember, you are the adult, not your 15 year old niece, and you should act accordingly as the adult.

No, this would not constitute as statutory rape, but then again, it would be best to look into your state’s laws about this concern.

If you feel remorseful for what has happened, then let your niece know that you do not condone this inappropriate behavior, and that you will not allow her to continue whatever this would have developed into.

If she asks to see your genitals, then tell her promptly “no”, you have the power to do that. If you send her a smiley face, then she will not understand what you are trying to say, and to most people it would not be seen as a “no”. If she tries to grab you inappropriately again, then tell her parents or someone you can trust will say something to her. You should again tell her that those advances are not welcomed, and hopefully then she will get the hint.

I hardly think that would count as statutory rape. She initiated contact without asking consent, you didn’t respond for a moment, and then you firmly denied consent. That is not rape.
