The Best and Worst Effects Tinder Has on Dating

Tinder may be the hottest new trend in dating. Over the years, online dating has evolved through many stages.

What Tinder does is allow daters to choose a potential date by viewing their photo and a few simple stats about them.

Basically, the choice comes down to whether you find them to be physically attractive or not.

The current dating scene is quite confused.

We have millions of people on online dating sites who sign up and stay on there for months and even years. It is a big question because it would seem having access to online dating would help someone get a partner faster. However, it’s not the case.

The question comes up should you pick your dates based on their physical appearance only?

Well, in day-to-day real life, people usually meet their matches through social circles and in public, where the woman is usually approached and made conversation with.

Tinder is helping and hurting the dating scene.

It is helping because it is stirring up more awareness of where we are heading with our society. People are taking dating more and more casually. They also are wanting results faster and without the effort.

Yes, it will get you faster dates and possibly more sex. But is that what we really want?

On one hand, Tinder is helping the current dating scene by speeding things up.

With traditional online dating sites, you’re kind of thrown into a huge pool of people who are just browsing around aimlessly and chatting with people they believe may or may not want them.

Tinder gets right to the point and connects those people who are already interested in each other even though it is based on physical appearance.

It seems there are a lot of people who see Tinder as a breath of fresh air because it makes things quicker and painless. It saves time and cuts out the fluff.

On the other hand, it is hurting the dating scene because it allows people to bypass the normal social filter and get connected with someone based on superficial reasons alone.

As we well know, looks alone aren’t a good indicator of someone matching with you or not. It is a mix of personality, lifestyle, hobbies, social circle and values that really determine if two people are a match.

“Tinder is serving its own

niche of people very well.”

When we take out these factors, it becomes hit or miss.

Many people can become addicted to online dating and allow it to take up a lot of their time.

They also may become persistent in thinking that is how they will find their partner or mate. Even with online dating sites like POF and OkCupid, which I have experience with in the past, it was hit or miss.

Overall, Tinder has more of a positive effect on the current dating scene because it allows people who are interested mainly in physical appearance to be able to match themselves up with exactly what they are looking for.

It also speeds up the process, allows people to connect faster and cuts out the people who you aren’t interested in. Those people aren’t even able to even message you.

The current dating scene is becoming faster and more nearly instantaneous these days. Just like a fast food line, you can jump in and get a date quickly and without much effort.

Tinder is serving its own niche of people very well.

And people who still meet through social circles and events don’t have to worry. Tinder is not a threat to these people because the social scene will always be its own area of dating.

On top of all of this, Tinder is bringing more of an awareness to the flaws in online dating and benefiting us by the questions it is bringing up about our current dating scene.
