TL;DR: When couples want to learn more about each other and build a stronger relationship, they can’t go wrong with The Gottman Institute Love Jungle app. In terms of having fun and improving your relationship at the same time, no other app compares.
Whether it’s long distance, work stresses or communication problems, couples often drift apart. When they need help reconnecting, that’s where The Gottman Love Jungle app comes in.
Featuring six levels of entertaining and educational exercises, The Love Jungle is a new relationship app to help couples get back on track.
Just what couples need
Creating The Love Jungle was a true collaboration, according to The Gottman Institute’s Director of Marketing, Michael Fulwiler.
This one-of-a-kind app came to fruition thanks to the suggestion of a couple attending one of the Institute’s well-known The Art and Science of Love weekend workshops, and it is based on 40 years of research by Dr. John Gottman, the world-renowned marriage researcher of The Gottman Institute and The New York Times best-selling author of “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.”
And so The Love Jungle was born.
Whether played together or separate, The Love Jungle allows couples to enhance their friendship and intimacy through fun Q-and-A activities. If played separately, couples can share their results with one another, adding a deeper level to the relationship.
Fulwiler said presenting skills in this way helps couples to stay connected – especially if they’re in a long-distance relationship – without it feeling like work.
“It’s a gamification of the principles that we teach,” he said. “Our goal is to help couples strengthen their friendship, which is the foundation of any great relationship. It’s supposed to be fun and light, and it really gives couples the opportunity to get to know each other better.”
“Happy marriages are based on a deep friendship,” Dr. Gottman added. “By this, I mean a mutual respect for and enjoyment of each other’s company.”
Improving the relationship app space
While the market is full of relationship apps, Fulwiler said many lack quality, and The Love Jungle is just the app to fill that void.
He believes it’s different from the rest because it can provide couples with the tangible tools they need to improve their relationship.
“When it comes to marriage and relationships, the quality of apps leaves much to be desired,” he said. “We are living in a time when everything is on our phones or on our iPads. Why not use this technology to strengthen our marriages and relationships as well? It’s really an interesting space to foster intimacy and closeness.”
Fulwiler added that what could help The Love Jungle to take over that market space is the integration of Dr. Gottman’s research into the app.
“The great thing about this app is there are teaching points with citations after each exercise,” he said. “If you want to read about a specific study or find out more information, you can do so.”
Taking relationship counseling one step further
The Love Jungle, which is available on the Windows Store, is truly taking relationship apps to the next level, making Gottman content more easily accessible to couples in this technology-driven world.
With positive user feedback and a talented development team behind the wheel, Fulwiler said there’s no stopping The Gottman Institute from creating more digital offerings in the future.
“We would love to be able to create further apps,” he said. “The cool thing about The Love Jungle is that it was created by a customer of ours. The couples that attend our workshops and seminars often come back to us with the desire to help other couples. That’s something that we take a lot of pride in.”
