The Short Version: With more than 160,000 downloads from the App Store, The Grade is a revolutionary dating tool that holds users more accountable for their actions (online and offline). Now you can see how your profile compares to others. Users get and give feedback through a grading system on every profile, creating a safe and engaging environment for high-caliber singles.
What if your online dating life were up for review? If your profile quality, your responsiveness, and your grammar skills were subject to grading, how would you score?
For anyone tired of weeding through shoddy profiles, mediocre bios, and lame pictures, for anyone frustrated by the harsh silence of unresponsive matches, and for anyone fed up with immature netspeak or inappropriate comments — The Grade has a solution.
We spoke with the dating app’s Founder and President, Cliff Lerner, who’s passionate about bringing accountability back to online dating. His app has been groundbreaking in the mobile dating space.
“The Grade became the first app to use an algorithm to assign ‘grades’ for user behavior,” he says, “thus creating a new level of accountability among users.”
The Grade’s clear grading system helps you weed out anyone incompatible or crude while also upping your own dating game through valuable critiques.
The Grading Criteria Rates Singles in Three Areas
Once you sign up for this free app, your own profile is submitted for review. You’ll be marked up for your successes and marked down for your shortcomings. Grades are calculated based on three important aspects:
- Message quality
Each sub-category receives a grade that then factors into an overall grade for your online dating profile. Grades are recalculated about every 10 minutes, so you always know where you stand and what needs improvement.
While it’s possible to score poorly in one category and superbly in another, be careful not to let your grades sink too low. If you receive an overall failing grade, your membership with The Grade will be revoked.
1. Profile: A+ for Good Pics and High Like-Rate
Do people typically select “like” on your profile? Is your About Me section filled out completely? Are your pictures appealing? These criteria all comprise your Profile Score.
The Profile Grade lets users know the success rate and likability of the profile. Those with poorly cropped photos or nondescript information tend not to score very well.
This scoring system highlights people you may want to talk to while giving you feedback on your own profile.
Additionally, the Photo Status feature gives users comparative feedback on their pictures. On The Grade, you have the ability to keep track of how well your profile photo performs, looking at real-time data comparing your photo to the average user.
Cliff explains, “This takes the guessing game out of constantly wondering which photo is most appealing.”
2. Message Quality: A+ for Articulate Language
The Grade assesses your messaging prowess based on grammar mistakes, spelling errors, and message length. Frequent misspellings hurt your message’s grade. If you don’t know the difference between “you’re” and “your,” you’re going to see your grade lowered.
Slang and netspeak should also be kept to a minimum because not everyone thinks it’s so gr8 2 use w/ppl.
Besides correctness of language, the algorithm also looks for quality within the message itself. Inappropriate content automatically pulls down your score. Keep it clean.
3. Responsiveness: A+ for Answering Messages
Finally, The Grade penalizes unresponsive users. This score is assessed by comparing the user’s response rate to the average. This keeps you from the agony of waiting for a response that’s never going to come.
With The Grade, you’ll know if someone has a tendency to leave the conversation hanging. That means you can save yourself some time and energy by only messaging singles who are highly responsive.
Make the Grade or Be Expelled
The makers of The Grade wanted users, especially women, to have a safe space in the impersonal world of online dating.
In Cliff’s eyes, the truly great thing about The Grade is that “users are finally held accountable for their actions online.”
On this female-friendly dating app, women don’t have to live in fear of inappropriate pictures or illiterate imbeciles. Those who abuse or neglect the online dating service, resulting in an overall F grade, will be kicked out of the app.
You can appeal this decision, but you better be prepared to prove yourself worthy.
Just like in school, before you’re expelled, you’ll get a few warning signs. The Grade lets you know when you’re not up to snuff, alerting you when your grades start to fall. The helpful team even offers tips for improving your scores so your membership isn’t revoked.
Kicking out users is a unique feature of The Grade that ensures greater accountability in online dating. This dating app is committed to fostering, in Cliff’s words, an “engaging environment for people who do really want to find a date.”
New Features: Peer Review and Leaderboard
To satisfy the needs of its users, The Grade releases new features all time. Listening to user feedback, Cliff explains, led to “the most recent and most game-changing feature” to date: Peer Review. This gives singles the ability to view feedback on matches before swiping.
Much like reading reviews on where to eat or vacation, you can now see what people are saying about potential dates.
“Our data shows that Peer Review provides a safer and better-informed dating experience,” Cliff notes. “It also helps eliminate inappropriate photos.”
According to a survey of their members, 90% of men who admitted sending an unsolicited dick pic reported that they’d stop if they knew a match could review them afterward. This is a tremendous upside to female users.
The Grade helps users find desirable matches through comprehensive feedback features.
To further rank and review profiles, singles can also take a look at the newly implemented Leaderboard. This showcases the highest caliber dates available in your area. There’s real-time feedback readily available to give you a full breakdown of the profile’s grades.
“Our goal has always been to create a safe dating environment with quality users,” the President says, “and these changes all help accomplish that.”
Users of The Grade know that even off-app actions can impact their ability to find a match, and so they behave accordingly. Through competition, transparency, and feedback, The Grade ups the quality of your dating experience.
Singles Give The Grade High Scores
The Grade offers a user-friendly interface that is aesthetically pleasing, technologically advanced, and easy-to-use. By putting dating profiles to the test and creating a scoring system to keep out the creepers, this dating app has earned a superlative reputation among its user base.
“Our user feedback has been incredible,” Cliff gushes. “Everyone agrees that our concept of accountability and transparency has not only created a safer dating environment, but has also created a pool of high-quality users.”
Making great innovative strides in online dating, The Grade measures the profiles, messages, responsiveness, and behavior of users to highlight dating gems and clear out substandard profiles. See how you measure up by downloading the app and venturing on an online dating experience like no other.
