24 Most Sexually Violent Cities in America

C. Price C. Price • 11/01/16

With two former Vanderbilt University football players recently convicted for their roles in a 2013 on-campus sexual assault of an unconscious woman, now more than ever is the time to shed light on how serious the issue of rape is in this country.

Analyzing data from the latest FBI Uniform Crime Report (2013), we determined which U.S. cities are considered to be the most sexually violent based on the total number of rapes that were reported by law enforcement agencies, and we give you the top 24.

Note: We used the UCR’s revised definition of rape, which is “penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.” The legacy definition, which we did not use, states, “The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.”
