The 411: With Kinkly, say goodbye to the innuendos, judgments and apologies and say hello to fearless, enlightening, fun and, well, kinky, conversations about sex, love and our bodies.
When you’re looking for genuine and educational information about sex online, it can be hard to weed through the random sites and pop-ups and get to the real advice you’re looking for.
And even in 2015, people can still be embarrassed to go to their friends and family if they have questions. That’s where Kinkly has your back.
The brainchild of Nicole Janssen, who was later joined by her husband, Cory, and Tara Struyk, Kinkly provides a sex positive, non-judgmental, informative and inclusive environment for people who are looking to learn more about sex, love and their bodies.
“Unfortunately sex is still a touchy subject for a lot of people, and a lot of the topics we cover are still really taboo. Approachability is something we really thought about,” Struyk said. “We want to push people’s boundaries a bit and push them to think about their sexuality and their bodies and their sex lives, but we don’t want to shove it in their faces too much. For some people, when things are a little too graphic and hardcore, that can be really intimidating. We like to keep it light and offer topics to readers that they might not be aware of or that they might be interested in.”
So what are some of those topics and services? Struyk was kind enough to take us through the incredible things Kinkly is doing.
Not only does Kinkly have a group of sexperts who provide content on a daily basis, such as Dr. Shannon Chavez and Cara Sutra, but the site also has tons of great tools that can help you learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about sex, including:
Kinkly also partners with leading sites, organizations, boutiques and more that promote sex positivity and offer high-quality products, like bedroom gear and lingerie, that will take your sex life to the next level.
But perhaps what the team at Kinkly is most proud of is its annual list of the Top 100 Sex Blogging Superheroes, which they create based off hundreds of submissions, site popularity, social media and other criteria.
“That’s a list of very unique and different online resources for sex education and all things sex,” Struyk said.
Kinkly has only been around for three years, but it’s already become a leading sexual education site, making users feel comfortable and less intimidated about asking the questions they’ve always wanted answered.
“There’s just so much to learn, and I think that having the language and having that information makes it a lot less intimidating and a lot easier to think about your own life in that context,” Struyk said.
As for the future, Kinkly strives to continue bringing in more readers and providing more authoritative content.
“That’s our overall goal — to reach more people in terms of embracing their sexuality and their bodies and different sexualities,” she said. “As long as you’re appealing to people and giving them content that they like and they like to share, then that allows the business to continue.”
