How We Help:The mission of the Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA) is to support research, education, and access to violence related resources.
History:
The Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse was established in 1994 by the Minnesota State Legislature with a charge "to ...improve the quality of higher education related to violence." During its first years, the Center's initial and only project was the Violence Education Project. The project included a discipline-specific needs assessment about higher education, a web- based library of educational resources, a grant program to fund the development of new violence-related higher education curricula, higher education conferences, and worked to change continuing education and licensing requirements.
Now in its 19th year, the Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA) is a leader in innovative violence-related education, research, and Internet publishing. Professional and student staff at MINCAVA conduct original research, develop extensive collections of translational research materials, provide higher education on family violence prevention, and disseminate information globally. MINCAVA staff work on projects often funded by federal, state, and foundation sources in collaboration with national and global advisory, as well as local community-based and national advocacy organizations. The Center staff operate multiple project-specific websites and one large-scale, electronic clearinghouse on violence prevention that receives millions of unique visits each year from users across the globe.Read More »

Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence
Domestic Violence Resource
How We Help:The Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence unites Missourians with a shared value that rape and abuse must end, and advances this through education, alliance, research and public policy.
History:
In 1979, the Missouri Adult Abuse Remedies Law was passed, which created the first legal protections for domestic violence vi ...ctims and required that law enforcement officers respond to domestic violence crimes the same as crimes between other persons. It was in the wake of this major legal victory that the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic Violence was created in 1980. In the 30 years since MCADSV began its work, the number of domestic and sexual violence programs in the state has grown from 11 to more than 120. MCADSV has assisted almost all of these programs from their initial stage of beginning operations through their program growth and development. And, in April 2006, the once single-issue Coalition, with a focus on domestic violence, officially expanded its work, included sexual violence and stalking and fully met the mission of the organization—becoming the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.Read More »

This legislation remains the basis for funding provided to statewide domestic violence and sexual assault programs. After being awarded a $7,500 Statewide Coalition Building Project grant in December 1985, the Task Force changed it’s name to the Nebraska Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition. Now 26 years have passed since the Task Force first met, and the state has seen a dramatic improvement in the public’s perception of and the legal response to domestic violence and sexual assault. New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence
Domestic Violence Resource
How We Help:The New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence creates safe and just communities through advocacy, prevention and empowerment of anyone affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking.
History:
In 1977 when the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence began there was only one program in the state w ...orking against rape and sexual assault and three programs to assist battered women. When the Coalition was founded there were no laws in New Hampshire providing protection for victims of domestic violence, and there was still a spousal exception to the sexual assault statute. Three decades ago services for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault received no funding of any kind from the state. When a woman was raped she had to pay for the medical exam that collected evidence to prosecute her perpetrator.
In the past 30 years the number of programs to help survivors of domestic and sexual assault in our state has substantially increased. Today the Coalition is an umbrella organization for a statewide network of fourteen independent member programs committed to ending domestic and sexual violence and stalking. Today there are laws in New Hampshire asserting that violence against an intimate partner is a crime and victims are able to get protective orders quickly and freely. The Coalition now receives both state and federal funding, with most of the state marriage license fees going to the Coalition and its member programs. The state now pays for medical examinations of rape victims, and hospitals and police follow guidelines, developed with the Coalition’s help, to ensure that victims are treated appropriately and with sensitivity. Through such changes women and men are served more consistently, in a more timely fashion, with new efficiency, and more dignity and respect legally, socially, medically and emotionally. Read More »

The New ...Jersey Coalition for Battered Women is a statewide association dedicated to the elimination of violence against women in New Jersey through advocacy, training, public awareness, and research.
