The Short Version: Nestled in the woods of North Georgia, Mulberry Gap invites visitors to partake in an outdoor adventure in the mountains. The campground offers quick access to wilderness trails and water sports, plus its full-service kitchen can fuel families during an active vacation. Many couples head to Mulberry Gap for a daytime date activity or a weekend getaway, and they enjoy a chance to unwind in the wilderness.Mulberry Gap

is all about love and family, and its current owners exemplify how the spirit of adventure can bring people together.

Diane Kepley and Ginni Taylor met when their teenage children Kate and Andrew started dating in high school. The families grew to be close friends, and then they became business partners.

In 2006, Diane and Ginni jointly purchased the property that would grow into Mulberry Gap. That was quite the plot twist for Kate and Andrew’s love story, but fortunately it worked out well for everyone involved. Fifteen years later, Kate and Andrew are happily married and have taken leadership roles at Mulberry Gap. Their mothers are now retired and living in Florida.

Mulberry Gap is a terrific basecamp for outdoor adventurers.

Mulberry Gap invites visitors to explore the outdoor beauty of the Chattahoochee National Forest and Cohutta Wilderness in North Georgia. The adventure basecamp is a great place for families, friend groups, couples, and solo travelers to take a load off their minds and connect with nature.

The 15-acre camp includes cabins and campsites where outdoorsy folk get settled and plan an active itinerary exploring hiking and biking trails in the surrounding forest. The campsites can accommodate RVs and campervans, and they include access to firepits, hot tubs, and bathhouses.

This outdoor destination offers a home away from home for people of all ages, backgrounds and orientations. Anyone who enjoys outdoor activities is welcome to join the Mulberry Gap family and explore the Chattahoochee National Forest.

“Though lots of things have changed and evolved over the years, the original mission to be safe, fun, and have a family-feel is still at the heart of Mulberry Gap,” said crew member Tori Barrett. “We want to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and at home.”

Visitors at Mulberry Gap enjoy a good balance of outdoor activities and creature comforts. The campground had perfected the art of #glamping before it became a big trend. The amenities include barrel hot tubs and firepits.

The Barn, which serves as the dining hall during meals times, is open to all guests and features a community television, refrigerator, microwave, movies, books, and games. Plus, there are outdoor hammocks on the deck where folks can relax and soak in the sun.

About 150 miles of bike trails are within a 50-mile radius of Mulberry Gap.

The majority of visitors to Mulberry Gap live in the Eastern U.S. and are within driving distance of the campground. Some couples are looking for a fun date activity and get a day pass so they can spend the day hiking or mountain biking.

The Mulberry Gap crew is made up of 10 team members who are passionate outdoor adventurers in their own right. Many go cycling, hiking, or fishing on their days off and enjoy assisting people who want to have those types of experiences at the campground.

The North Georgia mountains provide a beautiful backdrop for a romantic date, so it’s only natural that couples are attracted to this area.

Whether they’re backpacking through the woods or drinking beers around a campfire, visitors can make lasting memories at Mulberry Gap and strengthen their connection to loved ones and to nature at the same time.

Bike Trails, Water Sports, Hiking & More

Over the years, Mulberry Gap has gotten a reputation for its epic mountain biking trails, and many pros come out this way to test their endurance. However, visitors don’t have to be elite cyclists or experienced campers to enjoy a date at this friendly campground.

“We have a wide range of guests, and welcome everyone,” the team said. “Though we definitely have our share of serious riders, we also have a ton of folks who ride for fun, or just like to hike and camp, or are here for the trail running.”

Mulberry Gap offers a gateway to exploring the North Georgia mountains. Guests can go on an adventure on foot, or they can gear up for mountain biking, river rafting, or gravel riding in the surrounding Natural Forest. Local attractions also include ziplining, wine tasting, and apple-picking, all of which are unique date activities. A shuttle runs from Thursday to Monday to take guests to popular trails and sites.

The crew is knowledgeable about the surrounding area and can recommend trails that take people to waterfalls or mountain viewpoints.

On property, Mulberry Gap provides a glamping space where guests can unwind and grab a quick and hearty meal. The onsite dining hall serves homestyle breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it has a cooler filled with craft beers.

Couples who enjoy the adrenaline of mountain biking can hit the trails and get their heart rates up. But that’s not the only activity available at Mulberry Gap. Plenty of guests choose to vacation at a slower pace and relax in the hammocks and hot tubs for most of their stay.

Mulberry Gap is a wonderful date spot where couples can enjoy a summer camp for adults. The campground has sparked many love stories, and some couples have even gotten married on the property.

“We like to think that these solid friendships and relationships are so prevalent here because at Mulberry Gap, everyone gets to be their best and truest self,” the team said. “They can be the person they want to be without all the cares of the outside world. And being your best self is a good look and a great feeling.”

Mulberry Gap Leads the Way to Outdoor Fun

Mulberry Gap started as the passion project of two families joined by love, and now Kate and Andrew Gates have continued the legacy started by their mothers in 2006.

This campground has provided a fun backdrop for family reunions, weekend getaways, outdoor dates, and other adventures in nature. Some use it as a basecamp for mountain biking or backpacking, while others enjoy a more leisurely time roasting s’mores, fly fishing, and taking a stroll through wooded areas. Mulberry Gap provides easy access to all types of outdoor experiences and stimulating activities.

Looking to the future, the Mulberry Gap crew is working on adding bike rentals to its onsite services. That way visitors don’t have to bring or ship their own gear to enjoy a day on the bike trails. The team is constantly working on ways to expand and make outdoor adventure more accessible to all. New cabins and campgrounds will be opening in the 2022 season, including some dedicated van camping spaces to accommodate the growing number of people partaking in #vanlife.

“Mulberry Gap is all about making relationships — of all kinds!” the team told us. “Every weekend we watch individuals and friend groups merge and create new lifelong friendships. We can’t count the number of romantic relationships that have started here and stood the test of time.”
