The Short Version: After being orphaned at birth, adopted, and then experiencing a near-death experience in college, Transformational Life Coach Zen Benefiel developed an intense curiosity about his connection to the world. He studied that connection in his free time until an opportunity arrived to host a television show exploring people’s journeys, fears, and successes. He continued on that path to become a life coach, using his eclectic array of knowledge and modalities to help clients feel empowered and inspired to work toward self-actualization. Zen offers transformational life and career coaching to individuals and couples, as well as business coaching to corporations.

Zen Benefiel’s experience of being orphaned at birth, and adopted a few months later, left him with a lasting curiosity about his connection with the world. But after a near-death experience in college, he began to explore that curiosity more deeply and discover everything he could about “our form, fit, and function in the world.”

He spent decades researching and studying any related materials he could obtain. He began meeting others like him, and he found that he could help them distill their thoughts into manageable activities and plans.

Transformational Coach Zen Benefiel uses his experiences to assist people and businesses.

By day, Zen was a project manager working in the aerospace industry, but by night, he probed the connections between people and the world around them.

Then, in 1990, he had an idea for the TV show.

“I wanted to explore the journeys of others, especially their fears, and show how they found success in life from both inner and outer perspectives,” he said.

After having the opportunity to host and produce his show, he realized just how much he could help others succeed in life, love, and business.

Zen trained to become a life and business coach, and he has spent years transforming and empowering lives. Through his coaching practice, Be the Dream, he helps clients create action plans to reach their goals and enjoy healthier relationships with both themselves and others.

Using “Synergy of Methodologies” to Change Lives

Zen is trained in numerous modalities and has studied countless subjects, which combine into what he calls a “synergy of methodologies,” allowing him to offer an eclectic mix of approaches to his clients. He has an MA, an MBA, and is a certified transformational life coach.

While he tailors his coaching to each client, there’s one common thread: He starts from a place of desiring harmony among people and planet.

“My style depends on the client and covers a wide gamut — from the esoteric and metaphysical to scientific notions about how the brain functions. I can also discuss how we fall into patterned thinking and our ability to reroute our neural pathways,” Zen said. “I’ve explored — not just studied — many paths to enlightenment with religious and scientific understanding. The more dots we can connect across various fields of study, the more connected my clients become in their lives.”

He helps people feel more empowered about their own lives, but he can also do the same when it comes to their relationships with others.

“In dating and relationship development areas, I look for solid ground first. Then the nuances of miscommunication can be adjusted,” Zen said.

Transformational Sessions Empower Clients

One of Zen’s key offerings is transformational life coaching, in which he integrates traditional methods with advanced spiritual practices, psychospiritual technologies, and creative expression to support clients as they grow and build balanced, purposeful life.

His most popular offering is a 90-day transformational life coaching program, through which he helps clients create goals and an action plan. Zen has found that little happens in one or two sessions, so he meets with clients every other week for 90 days — with each session lasting an hour to 90 minutes. Because he works with clients so intensely, Zen only sees six to eight clients during any 90-day period.

He works with clients of all backgrounds, but there’s something most have in common.

“I’ve found that online, few present themselves authentically. Why not share the best, worst, and what we’re working to improve first? It’s a radical change in behavior for most, but it works surprisingly well.” — Zen Benefiel, Transformational Life Coach on honesty in online dating profiles

“Most of my clients are looking for a change — a rather large one — to realign their lives with passion and purpose,” Zen said. “Sometimes it’s as simple as a career change and realigning skill sets that they may not know they have.”

He’s also well-equipped to help clients who need dating and relationship assistance because Zen can empathize with their struggles.

“I’ve found that online, few present themselves authentically,” he said. “It’s always tough to reveal ourselves to others — in a broad sense. We want to be our best selves, but often, we’re embarrassed to share things upfront. Why not share the best, worst, and what we’re working to improve first? It’s a radical change in behavior for most, but It works surprisingly well.” He also encourages his clients to meet people in public, introducing themselves even if it makes them uncomfortable.

When it comes to working with clients who are struggling to find love, Zen said he encourages them to empty the desire, since that’s what he believes usually keeps their connections at bay.

“It’s like pushing and pulling energy with our emotions and intentions,” he said. “It doesn’t bode well for finding flow, which is the natural progression of having someone enter your life through preparing for them. I speak from experience. I let go of the need to have someone and, within a few weeks, my celestial cohort and consort showed up.”

Zen has already written one book on healthy relationships titled “Stubbing My TOE on Purpose,” and he said he plans to write a second.

Career Programs Show You How to Land the Perfect Job

In addition to helping individuals work through personal struggles and relationships, Zen also helps those seeking success in their professional lives.

“My demographics range from small business owners to spiritual seekers looking to make a shift in their professional lives,” he said.

Zen has worked in many industries, which gives him valuable insight when working closely with large and small corporations.

Having worked in numerous capacities in a variety of industries, he’s adept at helping people navigate the challenges of the working world.

Career coaching clients usually see results in as little as a month, but usually no longer than 90 days. Zen can assist with a litany of tasks — from reviewing resumés to practicing interview techniques.

He also helps clients determine their transferable skills and comes up with a comprehensive job profile. Zen can develop a Success Map to chart a client’s short-term and long-term employment goals, and help them create an action plan to fulfill them.

If a client is unsure what career path he or she should be on, Zen can employ self-discovery techniques to help determine their ideal job.

Zen Provides Solutions for Individuals and Corporations

Not only can Zen help individuals identify their dream job and strengthen their relationships, but he also helps businesses improve through corporate coaching.

Zen works with corporations to find and fix time-consuming performance problems, boost productivity by helping employees work smarter, strengthening existing skills, and developing new ones.

Through his work, Zen wants employees to feel supported and encouraged. He said his coaching leads to improved morale and reduced bottlenecks, turnover, and absenteeism.

Zen works with managers and employees at corporations and with entrepreneurs and solopreneurs who need help developing their skills and improving the health of their business.

The wide range of clients Zen works with reflects his philosophy and extensive training and research. He helps them all feel more connected to themselves, to others, and to a more fruitful future.
