The Short Version: Whether it’s a speed dating session, dating success workshop, or psychic night — 7 in Heaven Singles Events is sure to capture the interest of savvy singles and remind them their journeys to finding love can actually be enjoyable. Since starting 7 in Heaven in 2008, Gail Adams has helped hundreds of singles “fun” their way to lasting love. Recently named the Best Dating Service in Long Island, 7 in Heaven hosts no fewer than 15 events per month and is responsible for numerous dates, relationships, and marriages. If you’re looking to celebrate life and meet others with the same passion for adventure, 7 in Heaven just may be the answer.
When Gail Adams first became single after being married for 22 years, she remembered feeling as if she had moved to a foreign country and didn’t know the language. Learning from the challenges she faced as a woman re-entering the dating world, she discovered that — although the singles scene was not where she wanted to stay forever — it could actually be fun.
Gail didn’t have much luck when it came to online dating. She felt more comfortable attending events for singles and noticed that there weren’t many well-managed programs for singles in the Long Island area. So, when her career as a corporate recruiter came to an end, she decided to build 7 in Heaven Singles Events to fill the gap.
“Being single is just a frame of mind,” she said. “I wanted to help others along on their journeys to find connections. Even I found true love at one of my own events!”
Today, 7 in Heaven hosts at least 15 events per month, many of which are speed dating meetups that are organized by age group. Since its inception, 7 in Heaven has helped hundreds of singles come together, with many relationships culminating in marriage.
“Over the years, we’ve had several marriages and people who have made lasting connections,” Gail said. “Seven is my number. In the seventh year of my business, I met someone I would definitely call my significant other. It’s been very, very good for me.”
Gail says the real mission of 7 in Heaven is to help serious-minded, quality singles meet in a nice, private atmosphere. And, after nearly a decade in the business, she shows no signs of slowing down.
7 in Heaven has become a one-stop shop for singles who want to lead fun, active lives while remaining open to love and all its possibilities. The service’s monthly events include speed dating, mingling opportunities, and other social activities held in Long Island.
Singles who sign up for a free membership have the chance to learn a new sport, take long walks in the park, attend barbecues, peruse museums, take part in themed dance parties, laugh at comedy club nights, and imbibe at wine tastings, among other activities.
Gail’s programs are designed to cater to every perspective. Whether you’re recently out of a long-term relationship, have never been married, are widowed, or are divorced, everyone is welcome.
“Whether your objective is to find a soul mate, a date for a social event, or simply to just socialize and network, and make some new single friends, if you’ve come to a 7 in Heaven event, you’ve come to the right place,” Gail said.
The company’s current membership roster is up to 7,500 active members. Joining is as easy as filling out a short registration form. Members can also sign up and pay for their first event as part of the registration process.
To keep the environment low-pressure and safe, participants must observe some basic guidelines, including representing themselves in an honest manner. Gail also offers a 7 in Heaven Discount Club, so members who are planning to be active can start saving money immediately.
Gail said the goal of her speed dating events is to help busy singles meet several people face to face in a pleasant, non-threatening, and private environment. Another perk: These events are held in upscale restaurants known for serving excellent food.
Events cater to five separate age groups, starting at 23 and running up to 69 and over. When you arrive, you’re greeted by the host and given your assigned table number, and everyone meets at the bar area to mingle beforehand.
Appetizers and the first drink are included in the price of admission, after which attendees are directed to a private area with tables. The host gives a brief overview and instructions to help guests feel more comfortable with the process. Women stay at the same table all evening, while men move to different tables every 7 minutes. When the bell rings, each date ends, and everyone marks their sheets to decide if they would like to meet with that particular person again.
At the end of the evening, attendees turn in their sheet to the host. Emails or calls go out the very next day notifying them of their matches. If an attendee receives no matches, he or she receives half-price admission on their next event. However, when matches are made, Gail likes to provide a lot of information so couples can really connect and see where the relationship can go.
“The whole idea is that you want to meet and talk in person now. This is not online dating,” she said.
Speed dating proved to be exactly what attendee Ken needed to create the love story of his dreams. He had tried online dating but wasn’t getting his desired results. One night, his friend Paul asked if he would join him at one of Gail’s events. Although he was apprehensive, he decided to support his buddy and just have a good time.
“I met a lady who has changed my life in so many ways,” Ken said. “JudyAnn and I have been dating for the past two months, and it has been the best two months of my life.”
Gail believes her events don’t have to fall into the realm of the one-size-fits-all model. In addition to providing singles with a range of speed dating and activity-based events, she also has monthly dating success workshops that give them the opportunity to learn more about love while they’re searching for it.
These workshops focus on exploring love languages and answering those questions that often baffle singles when they feel they’ve done everything right and still aren’t making progress. Dating Coach Heidi Krantz serves as the workshop’s expert and provides down-to-earth advice.
Included in a workshop is 30 minutes of mingle time that could lead to lasting connections. All attendees receive a complimentary half-hour private coaching session. The cost of admission is $15, which can be paid online or at the door.
Gail consistently uses her voice to encourage singles and support them along every phase of their love journey. Her blog covers many topics that single and attached people face on a regular basis. The blog teaches them how to deal with loneliness, discover if they’re secretly judgmental, and even overcome what she calls “the Valentine’s Day blues.”
“Being single shouldn’t be a reason to feel blue and neither should Valentine’s Day,” she said. “Instead of letting these commercially-fueled holidays drag you down, why not celebrate being single? Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, concentrate on what you do have and celebrate love!”
Whether you’re looking for advice on how to deal with a tough breakup or want the scoop on the latest events, Gail has you covered.
Although 7 in Heaven isn’t involved in direct matchmaking, Gail has partnered with Heavenly Match to expand her offerings. Gail’s daughter Jackie is the head matchmaker and uses her degree in psychology to help singles combat any fears and concerns they may have about dating.
Gail says to be successful, you have to put more effort into reaching your love goals.
“It’s a proven fact — the more energy and ways you can get out there and successfully network to reach your goal, the faster your dreams will come true,” she said. “We are on the same team on this journey, and we will help you help yourself.”
Gail is currently taking the names of those who wish to be added to the waiting list for matchmaking services. The application fee is only $99, and Gail can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want more information about signing up.
When asked how it feels to be such a pivotal part of so many love stories, Gail told us she loves that she is able to impact people’s lives.
“So many people do come back and thank me because not only do people find love, they also find meaningful friendships at our events,” she said.
Indeed, the testimonials she receives truly support the claim that 7 in Heaven events can give you viable, lasting results. Gail recalls one couple’s story that always manages to bring a smile to her face.
“John and Elaine ended up getting married after meeting at one our events,” she said
John noted that he was accused by many of being too picky when it came to finding the right partner. But after attending his first 7 in Heaven event, he was hooked. He continued to attend and ended up meeting the love of his life.
Gail credits John for his willingness to stick with it.
“John didn’t attend just one event to have this happen,” she said. “But, because he continued to attend with a good outlook and attitude, his success didn’t take long.”
A year after meeting, John proposed to Elaine, and the two got married on a beautiful island with friends and family celebrating alongside them.
Gail says stories like this give her a real sense of purpose, and she finds pride in the fact that she’s able to be a part of the launching pad that skyrockets relationships.
“I really enjoy what I do for a living,” she said. “Out of everything I’ve done, I really love being an entrepreneur, and it makes me feel really good when people tell me they met someone. It feels great to know I’ve made a difference in the world.”
