The Short Version: Smartphones make it easier for couples to take photos, but they don’t make it easy to relive those cherished relationship moments months or years later. Aura aims to change that with its wifi-enabled digital frames. Users can send their favorite smartphone photos directly to their Aura frames and even send pictures to loved ones to display in their Aura frames. For couples in long-distance relationships, Aura frames have been a comforting source of connection during the pandemic.
Mike planned a unique way to propose to his girlfriend, which included a recreation of their first date — at home. The first step was giving her an Aura frame, a wifi-enabled digital frame that could display photos from his smartphone. Mike chose the pictures that would show up in the digital frame from a connected mobile app.
He set up the frame, and his girlfriend, Fallon, enjoyed looking at it. With the help of his brother, he created a special graphic to display on the Aura.
“I made our drinks, put a picture of the words, ‘Will you marry me?’ on the Aura frame, and surprised her with the ring. She had no idea it was going to happen,” Mike said in a post on the Aura blog.
Mike’s romantic Aura frame story isn’t the only one.
Andre researched digital frames to give his girlfriend the best one when they moved into their first apartment together. He landed on the Aura as a gift that would help them recall memories of their relationship.
“She absolutely loved it. Great quality, amazing display and interface, and so easy to use. I am a huge tech nerd, and all of my research led me to an Aura frame. It did not disappoint,” he wrote in an online review.
Aura frames store and display digital pictures that bring back cherished memories. They are designed to fit any decor, from modern to rustic, and offer couples an easy way to relive their relationship milestones. Users simply add photos to the Aura app, and they can invite others to share, as well.
“With free unlimited storage, you can invite the entire family to share their photos and never worry about running out of space or paying additional fees,” said Rahel Marsie-Hazen, Marketing Manager.
Aura frames also help couples develop bonds as they bask in the glow of their happy experiences together.
It’s no secret that modern couples can capture their experiences more easily than did earlier generations. Couples are likely to take more photos of their day-to-day experiences, whether they’re of a night out on the town or a trip to another country.
The average iOS and Android has 630 photos stored on their phone, according to a report from GigaOm, a technology research and analysis company. That number doesn’t include images stored on their other devices. The average user also takes 150 photos each month, which is about five photos per day.
Taking pictures isn’t the problem. The difficulty is seeing those photos again later on. Couples don’t want to spend hours scrolling through their camera rolls, especially when trying to find a memory from years earlier in their relationship.
Aura’s digital frame makes it easy for couples to share their favorite photos. Users connect the Aura frame to its dedicated photo-sharing app. Couples can add as many pictures as they’d like to the app, and they can grant friends and family members access so they can add more.
The Aura Frame doesn’t have to be relegated to a back room, either, as the frames are designed tocomplement upscale decor.
“When we hear ‘digital frame,’ we tend to think of a plastic-looking device that ends up in a box in the garage after we get sick of looking at the same 20 photos. But Aura makes living room-worthy frames for any occasion,” Rahel said.
Its Carver frame has the largest display size, and it can show full-screen landscape photos or pair portrait photos side by side.
“It features Intelligent Photo Pairing, Aura’s proprietary smart feature that uses AI to group similar photos, resulting in unexpected moments of surprise,” Rahel said.
The Mason frame offers similar features but has a stone look that comes in graphite or white quartz. The Sawyer is also designed to look like stone and comes in mica or shale finishes.
The Smith frame is made from stainless steel and is best suited to fans of industrial design. It comes in black onyx or platinum rose.
Many couples use Aura frames to take trips down memory lane together. However, if users who have a relative or significant other who lives far away — or if COVID-19 restrictions keep them apart — they can still share memories with the Aura frame.
That means that someone could share images with their relatives and friends whenever they come to mind. Some users share photos of special occasions or holidays, while others send pictures of their daily lives to their loved one’s Aura frame.
“In a year of uncertainty and not being able to see your loved ones, Aura can keep you connected across any distance and can make for a very meaningful gift for a significant other,” Rahel said.
One user, Cecil, told the story of giving an Aura frame to his father: “This Aura frame was a gift for my Dad who is in a nursing home and can’t have visitors due to COVID-19. We’re happy to be able to send him photos,” she said in an online testimonial.
Another user’s mother is also in a nursing home and can’t have as many visitors as she once did.
“She tells me that she watches her Aura frame more than her TV. She is always calling me every time I add a new pic. She told me it’s the best gift she has ever received,” Kristina shared.
The frame is a perfect gift for non-tech-savvy users.
“It’s super easy to set up and use, even for the technologically challenged,” Rahel said.
Once couples purchase an Aura frame, they can choose photos and start immersing themselves in memories from their relationships. An Aura frame can be a meaningful gift for a significant other or relative, especially in these days of social distancing and quarantining.
When times get tough, memories generated by photos can improve your loved one’s state of mind. Aura recently conducted a study of 2,000 Americans and found that respondents who reminisce often are more likely to be hopeful and satisfied with their lives, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rahel shared why she believes an Aura frame is a worthwhile gift in these trying times.
“Aura is a gift of joy and connection. It not only stores digital images you upload but allows others to send photos to the device as well, from wherever they may be — keeping families and friends connected without Zoom fatigue or relying on social media. Reminiscing can inspire more happiness,” she said.
