Besides making your body beautiful and adding years to your life, gyms can have an infamous reputation for being meat markets.

So what? If you spot a hottie, use it to your advantage.

1. Earbuds out.

I know you love jamming to Katy, but she’s not going to get a guy to talk to you. Take your earbuds out. Headphones make you look closed off and unapproachable.

If you have to have your music (I get it), only use it for part of your workout – like cardio. Then physically remove them when you’re done.

2. Ditch the girly classes.

When you’re at the gym, you need to venture to where the men are. They are not (save a very brave few) at Zumba and Bar classes.

They are in the weight room. Don’t be scared of the weight room.

Even as a girl, you need weight-bearing exercises to ward of osteoporosis, and nothing will transform your body like using weights.

You will get noticed when you move to that area, as few women are there. Grab a Shape magazine and learn some moves.

3. Sip with strategy.

You need to drink water when you exercise. It doesn’t hurt to time your water breaks when the sweaty babe goes to the fountain, too.

You don’t need to follow him there every time, but you need to find opportunities when you can have a quick conversation. The line for the water fountain helps it flow.

4. Exercise clothes are your friends.

Besides being technologically advanced to keep you cool and breathable when you work out, workout clothes are very flattering. Dump the sweats and T-shirts at the gym.

Guys love workout clothes on women. When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you relax and you become more approachable.

5. Ask for help.

Gyms are really easy places to start a conversation because there are so many things going on.

Don’t know how to use a piece of equipment or where to find something? Those are painless and also useful questions to ask.

6. Play a sport.

Guys love sports and guys love girls who love sports. If your gym offers any coed sports leagues, join.

It’s a very easy and fast way to make new friends and score a guy.

7. Be somewhat consistent.

Some men are total failures at seizing single opportunities to talk to women. If you see someone you’re interested in, go often enough and at similar times so the guy can get an idea of when to find you.

Don’t over do it. You’re a fabulous lady with lots of things going on in your life besides waiting around at a gym for some guy to ask you out.
