Equipped with nurturing transformative healing services enhanced with a beautiful garden setting, Osmosis is the perfect place to unplug with your lover and experience wellness for the body, mind, and heart. Whether it’s through the spa’s trademark Cedar Enzyme Bath or a Shiatsu massage, couples are finding this sanctuary has what they need to escape the bustle of the everyday. So come for the afternoon or stay for the weekend with overnight packages that can turn your spa day into a lover’s getaway.

Stress — it’s an unfortunate fact of modern life. Long work hours, seemingly never-ending to-do lists, and an increasing dependence on electronic devices leave many of us overworked and fraying at the edges.

While stress has been known to negatively impact our health and overall feeling of well-being, high stress levels have also been shown to be damaging to our relationships. Luckily, there’s a solution to help us unwind and reconnect with those we care about. Heading to the spa can stop stress in its tracks. For those in Sonoma County, Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary offers an ideal venue to do so while bonding with a loved one.

“It’s a great way to take your relationship to the next level,” said Jennifer Klein, Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary’s Spokesperson. “Sink into a deeper place in your own mind and connect with someone. It’s a very special experience to share.”

So grab your honey and head to the remote town of Freestone, California, where Osmosis can help you create memories together and restore your peace of mind.

A Sustainable Retreat With Roots in Ecology & Healing

Opened in 1985, Osmosis continues to evolve each year, building new pathways to optimal healing, vitality, and transformation. Founder Michael Stusser did more than open a spa; he started a movement.

Jennifer told us a bit about the thriving culture centered on nature that drives Osmosis.

“Our founder started the green spa network,” she said. “We definitely have a mission for greening the spa. It’s a very earth-friendly environment and culture in our company.”

The spa’s dedication to sustainability has been recognized by several publications and was listed as American Spa Magazine’s Favorite Green Spa in 2014.

Jennifer said Osmosis was created to do more than relax you for a few hours and improve your skin tone; there’s a bigger connection the team is trying to make.

“Our intention is to be a catalyst for the community and take relaxation to the next level,” she said. “We want to be a cornerstone for those seeking a deeper peace of mind.”

With signature services and beautiful surroundings, Osmosis is able to help guests connect not only with themselves, but also with those most precious to them.

Cedar Enzyme Baths & Rejuvenating Services for the Body & Soul

Osmosis aims to make the spa experience all-encompassing. Each treatment is meant to embody a ritual of self-care and wellness.

“It’s really about the whole experience,” Jennifer said. “The baths, the gardens, the massages, the facials —  it’s the whole package. And our location is close to the coast in a really remote town, so it’s a great destination to escape the everyday.”

Many guests come for Osmosis’ signature Cedar Enzyme Bath. The ritual begins with a visit to the Japanese Tea Garden where you’ll enjoy tea made of 25 organic herbs and enzymes to prepare your body for the bath. Your attendant will escort you to your private bath and settle you in to enjoy the rejuvenating effects of finely ground evergreens and rice bran.

You will be wrapped in warmth while you relax and let go of your stressors.Afterward, a shower and an electrolyte drink will help you rejuvenate before continuing on your relaxation journey.

Osmosis also offers other luxurious treatments such as massages and facials. The spa’s menu highlights every major type of massage, including deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, Swedish-Esalen, Shiatsu, Thai, and other specialty massages. You can also opt to have your massage outside in the Pagoda, which adds a nature-infused aesthetic to the experience. Additionally, Osmosis offers a Seaweed Body Treatment that exfoliates, hydrates, and firms the skin, making it undeniably soft and impossible to resist.

Jennifer told us Osmosis uses only the very best materials for facials, and that begins with PHYT’S organic line of Vital Energy Treatment.

“The treatment is encapsulated in glass,” she said. “The aesthetician breaks it open, and it’s as fresh as it was the day they made it. We use no preservatives on the guest’s skin. It’s an amazing treatment for your skin, it feels and looks super refreshed.”

Osmosis performs several other varieties of facials for every skin type and need.

Explore the Gardens & Relax in the Field of Hammocks

When you aren’t being bathed, massaged, or treated, take some time for reflection with your beloved in the many natural features at Osmosis. Jennifer raved about the spa’s magnificent grounds and Zen Garden.

“When you have tea before your cedar bath, there’s a little private tea garden where you sit and have your tea and look out into the garden,” she said. “There’s also one in the back that’s a Kyoto-style Japanese garden, and guests love going back there to meditate or simply take some time in nature.”

If you really want that relaxing get-away feel, visit the spa’s Field of Hammocks. Oversized and generously cushioned, you can rock your way to serenity. Jennifer recommends sound therapy to further enhance the experience. The spa’s recordings are uniquely optimized to increase creativity and deep relaxation.

After time in the hammocks, a short hike on the paths along Salmon Creek can be very relaxing as you enjoy the calming power of the water and greenery. Stop by the Infinity Fountain on the way back to the spa to make a wish and bask in the feeling of time slowing down.

Spend the Weekend at Osmosis With Overnight Packages & Activities

Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary partners with several local hotels so you and your love can extend the peace and romance as long as you’d like. You can find something for every taste whether it is posh lux or more along the lines of a cozy B&B. The spa also gives recommendations for other activities, including winery tours, must-visit restaurants, and, of course, a little bit of adventure for those who need to be a bit more active to truly unwind.

“Our most popular package includes accommodations at Occidental Inn,” Jennifer said. “Right now, we have a great winter escape package, but our packages change seasonally.”

Jennifer said she’s excited about the spa’s new forest bathing offering.

“It’s getting a lot of media attention right now,” she said. “We will implement a forest bathing program on an ongoing basis; it’s something to look forward to.”

A spa getaway is the perfect way for couples to de-stress and reconnect with nature and each other. So, if you’re planning a visit to Sonoma County, a trip to Osmosis should be at the top of your to-do list to strengthen your mind, body, and bond.
