So this guy and I have been close friends since we were in middle school. I have always thought of him as an awesome stand up guy and that he is one of the best guys I know, but we have always been stuck in the ‘friend zone’ and neither of us (at least for me) never wanted to change. I set him up with my cousin/best friend and they did date shortly about a year ago and we kinda drifted apart while they were dating. I recently got out of a three year relationship that ending badly and just recover from a nasty accident that I almost didn’t live through. Over the past few weeks we have become closer then ever and planned a 3 day trip together as friends is which we we would have to share a bed (no biggie we have before as just friends). But last night during New Years we did end up spending the night together-not as just friends this time, but still no sex. His siblings and dad were at the party and knew we spent the night together and greeted me very friendly in the morning. Now I’m just not sure where to go from here? The idea of being in a relationship so soon after my accident and break-up makes me want to run for the hills but I know I can’t do the friends with benefits thing. I really do enjoy spending time with him, but I’m not sure how to make the switch from friends to dating? Or how to even approach the subject with him? Normally I would go to my cousin, but he is her ex and had never spoke to me about what happened between them and I don’t feel comfortable talking to her about this.
