This is more of a general conversation although it does stem from something I’ve been feeling lately. I had an encounter with an ex that made me question my feelings for her which had been null and void for quite some time. I started to idealize her and compare her to my current partner and it really started getting to me. Suddenly, I felt like I wasn’t over it although we had been broken up for two years. It took me almost a year to get over her, but seeing this resurgence in feelings has made me think that maybe I wasn’t over it after all? What do you call this idealization? Why does it happen? And how long does it take to completely remove yourself from a relationship?
