So , what was his promblem?

So I and this guy were pretty cool friends in middle school(8th grade)and we would just laugh and flirt constantly, didn’t really slip my mind that he liked me( i liked him back) till we got to high school and his sister told my brother that he liked me.Anyways as time went on we would talk and one day made plans to hang out the day before Halloween and eventually ….I didn’t call to tell him i couldn’t come(dad wouldn’t let me go); anyways after that, he asked my sister what happened and she told him i forgot(total lie), i just didn’t have his number(i lost it ).So after my sister told me what she told him i quit talking to him(messed I know but I was too embarrassed ).So years later in our senior year ii found him alone and told him I’m sorry for what i did, and then he gave me this weird stare like what are you talking about I don’t remember that.My question is why would he act like it never happened? I never wanted a friendship with him, I just felt bad for what I did to him

Maybe it’s a defensive reaction? If he thought you rejected him, maybe he’s acting like it wasn’t any big deal to him either.
