    Struggling with intimacy

    Hi everyone,
This is my first thread but I hope someone can help me out with an issue I’m having. I am a 23 year old male and for a while, I have been having problems with intimacy whenever I get close to women. I’m not talking about sex but more in terms of emotional intimacy such as: being open with each other, sharing feelings and just having that deeper connection that’s needed for relationships to work.
I’ve had some bad experiences with women in the past which I guess has resulted in me being a lot more emotionally guarded around them. Superficially I can be quite charming and lots of girls have shown interest in me but as soon as I feel ourselves getting past that “friends” stage, I get nervous and defensive because I feel vulnerable and I just cannot hide it. I wish I could just be myself and stop subconsciously putting a wall up between us!
Any advice on how to move past this would be greatly appreciated.
