I’m usually more aggressive and dominant in the bed with my boyfriend, but he is trying to be the dominant one. I am afraid of hurting his ego so some times I’ll let him take over. Truth is he is in good shape and healthy but lacks strength and aggression of the average male.
Are some men just less dominant these days? I’ve taken him in wrestling a few times recently after we both got into a defense class at our gym, and I’m pretty certain he was giving his full effort. He seemed upset about losing initially,, not to mention he lost to a 12 yo boy wrestler in the grappling class (whole other story) He’s 34 and around 160ish and 5″10 and he’s a good distance runner and has a lot of energy.
I don’t want to be that bitch that humilaites her boyfriend or criticizes him for not, being strong enough or controlling, but I would like better competition in bed.

I think you’re missing the point that sex between two people isn’t a “competition”.
You’re supposed to be on the “same team” with the goal of mutually pleasing one another.
Now if you want to engage in “role playing” or have “rough sex” that’s something entirely different.
Simply ask him for whatever it is you want in bed.
