Why deny you had relationship with someone after a break up?

Met a guy. We hit it off big time. Then when the flames cooled he tells people we never dated. Except he bragged about me to his friends and family about how wonderful I was and how happy he was with me. Why do some guys do this? I was good enough when we first met now I am not horrible that he is lying saying we never dated. Like our whole relationship just never happened but it did. Why would a guy act this way. .It was so hurtful and makes every romantic moment we had throughout the relationship seem fake. The chemistry was there then his waned I guess. How should I respond to this type of behavior. Why wouldn’t he just acknowledge we did date, he did have romantic feelings for me, but no longer. Just because you don’t like a girl anymore doesn’t erase your past with her. So, was I always such a huge embarrassment to him? Does him ever having had romantic feelings for and been in a romantic relationship with me make him feel ashamed? This same guy wants me in his life still? wtf

Actually we need to understand the psychology behind relationships
I’ve found a good website talking about this subject. It’s “getleowls”
    Hope it is useful.
