It’s Valentine’s week and the good news is Valentine’s Day is on Friday this year, so you have all week long to flirt online if you’d like to score a date by then.

Worldwide, there are more than 200 million singles searching for love online, so it’s time to join the digital party and let your profile rise to the top.

Assuming you’ve already dipped a toe in cyberspace, try these six simple tricks to spice up your profile and have yourself a date in time for Valentine’s.

1. Refresh and socialize your profile.

It’s time to take inventory of your existing profile and become a social dater. If your status updates are good enough for Facebook or Twitter, they should be added in rotation to your online dating profile.

Be bold and brave and say you’d love to make a home-cooked meal for some lucky guy on Valentine’s.

2. Create a Pinterest board.

Some people create a vision board to attract a mate, highlight business opportunities, show their dream vacations and more.

Create your Valentine’s board on Pinterest and feature some of the recipes you’d like to cook, your favorite restaurants, favorite music and possible gifts you’d like to give or receive on Pinterest.

Take that board and post it on your Facebook page and your online dating profile. Yes, it’s bold and forward, but I guarantee your profile will look different than most others.

The squeaky wheel does get the digital deal, or at least a Valentine’s date.

3. Don’t wait. Initiate.

So you want Mr. Right to just magically find you so you can ride off into the sunset together? But that wink, flirt or nudge from your biggest competitor caught his attention during his busy workday, so the email he thought of writing you never made it into your inbox.

My suggestion? Go ahead and contact five guys every day from now through Valentine’s.

You’ll boost up their ego and have a greater chance of filling up your date card, so when you get five to 10 new daily matches in your inbox, take a second notice.

“Practice these six tips from

now until Valentine’s Day.”

4. Flirt on Facebook.

Finding love on Facebook is no longer a novel idea. Take a peek at your chat list and see who’s online now and start your digital conversation.

Some of the best relationships start as just friends, so log on and flirt up a storm in real time. Your Valentine might just be a guy who’s had a crush on you for a couple of years and is waiting for the right time to make his intentions known.

Do you keep your online dating profile hidden with fear you’ll look desperate? Change your settings now to indicate that you’re online to make it easier for the men to find you.

Go ahead and take it one step further and turn on the chat, instant message feature or webcam and start flirting online.

5. Like him back.

Think of a successful online dating experience like a digital boomerang. When a man has viewed your photos, it significantly raises the odds he’ll write back to you.

See who’s viewed your profile and has listed you as one of his favorites or added you to his hot list. Perhaps he’s still thinking about whom to write to, but when your email appears in his inbox, he’ll be flattered and will know he won’t be rejected.

This is not the time to be passive about it and wink back or flirt. Go straight to email. He just might be your next Valentine.

The best part is he’ll remember he liked your profile and will think it’s a huge coincidence that you found him. Keep it as your little secret.

6. The magic of five

If you’d go on a job interview every day to find your dream position, shouldn’t you do the same with your personal life?

Go ahead and book five dates a week. Sound overwhelming? Not really.

Schedule two coffee dates, one lunch date and two dates for drinks to fill your calendar with potential male suitors. Before the weekend, you should have date number two on your calendar.

Even if you don’t meet The One, you’ll be expanding your social network. I call it casting a wide net. You never know if a party invitation or a Valentine’s date will magically appear.

Practice these six tips from now until Valentine’s Day and look forward to the possibility of finding love online.
