This is an exclusive study conducted by DatingAdvice.com, which surveyed respondents over the course of three weeks to reflect an accurate representation of the U.S. population.
A blind date can be a wonderful once in a lifetime opportunity, or it can wind up as an evening entirely devoid of romance, chemistry or conversation.
In a new DatingAdvice.com study, 57 percent of Americans say they have never been on a blind date.
At 56 and 58 percent, respectively, about the same amount of men and women have not participated in this sort of date.
However, the results show singles, younger Americans and Hispanics were among the most likely demographics to have never gone on a blind date.
“Fifty-seven percent of Americans
have never been on a blind date.”
Seven out of 10 single respondents answered no to the question “Have you ever gone on a blind date?” On the flip side, almost one out of every two divorcees answered no to the same question.
With 80 percent saying they’ve never been on a romantic outing where they didn’t know what their date looked like, Americans aged 18 to 24 had the highest response, while Americans aged 65 and older had the lowest response at 42 percent.
Hispanic men and women were 30 percent more likely to have never taken part in a blind date compared to Caucasians.
Among the least likely groups to say they have not tried blind dating was high-wage earners and Southerners.
Fifty-two percent of those making $125,000 or more a year did not answer in the affirmative versus 68 percent of those earning less than $25,000 annually.
Respondents living in states like Tennessee and Louisiana had a 9 percent lower likelihood of never having been on a blind date than those living in states like Arizona and New Mexico.
The study surveyed 1,080 respondents over the course of three weeks, balancing responses by age, gender, income, race, sexuality and other factors in order to accurately represent the U.S. population. The study has a margin of error of +/- 2.8%.
