The Short Version: Esteemed matchmaker Devora Alouf started the world’s first Jewish matchmaking site all the way back in 1996. She launched the site to give Jewish singles a way to meet long-term partners within a few clicks. Today, JMatch.com is a leading matchmaking resource for thousands of singles of all nationalities. Many professional matchmakers use the database to search out quality dates for their clients and bring more love into the world. Devora said her success has come from pairing advanced technology with old-fashioned matchmaking talents to guide, coach, and assist relationship-minded singles. JMatch’s verified membership offers a ripe dating ground for Jewish singles interested in sharing their faith and values with someone special.
David heard about JMatch.com, a Jewish matchmaking site, through his father, who’d asked around and found out that matchmaker Devora Alouf was the go-to dating resource for Jewish singles in the Miami area.
“My father picked up her card at a Jewish shop,” David told the Dade Jewish Journal. “He is an old-fashioned person and insisted that I call it.”
David was 34 years old and looking to settle down, so JMatch’s quality network of singles intrigued him. He called the number on the business card and was impressed by the sincere helpfulness of the matchmaking team. “If I had not been comfortable with Devora, that would have been the end of it,” he said. “But I spoke to her, and she sounded like a very serious and dedicated person.”
So David joined thousands of singles on the JMatch site and began a tailored and stress-free search for love in the Jewish community.
JMatch Founder and Chief Matchmaker Devora Alouf launched her first matchmaking site in 1996, and she led the way with experience and talent, building a widely successful dating resource for Jewish singles around the world. “I’m not a beginner,” she said. “Today, there are thousands of dating websites, but mine was the first one for Jewish singles.”
In the last couple decades, JMatch has amassed a huge database of verified profiles and connected thousands of relationship-minded Jews throughout the world. What makes this matchmaking website unique is its blend of personalized expert assistance and do-it-yourself online tools.
Devora has a vested interest in helping her members have a wonderful experience, but she also gives Jewish singles the freedom to explore, converse, and fall in love in their own way, on their own time.
“What’s important is that we are goal-oriented,” she told us. “Our goal is to build people up and to encourage them and to give them a direction. We become personally involved in the lives of so many people who need this service.”
Singles of all ages have signed up and become free members of JMatch. Generally, the site caters to marriage-minded individuals, but it’s also an effective platform for those seeking a boyfriend or girlfriend. Anyone can sign up for free, but only members verified through the system (by email or member recommendation) will have full access to the site’s database of singles.
Thousands of singles have chosen to join JMatch because its matchmaking tools offer a targeted and user-friendly way to get a date and find a mate. The online features foster offline connections and allow users to be their own matchmakers using search filters or to get expert help from the professional matchmakers behind the scenes.
“There are a lot of matchmakers involved in our site,” Devora told us. “I am a resource for them because I don’t hide my people under the table. If another matchmaker wants to make a match, they can go ahead and find quality people and make things happen.”
Sometimes, a user will contact JMatch asking for recommendations, and the team happily points them toward compatible members near them. The team provides one-on-one guidance for Jewish singles and coaches them through the ups and downs of the dating process.
Over the decades, JMatch has sparked long-term connections and rave reviews from all corners of the web. While not everyone follows up to tell Devora that they’ve met someone, she said that it warms her heart whenever she hears about members getting married and starting families because of her matchmaking efforts.
“You cannot quantify it,” she said about these successes. “This is what I’ve done for many, many years — I’ve given people direction. I try to help all the time.”
“I really appreciated the process,” Sam, a Jewish single from Montreal, said. “It was a way to make sure people were real quality people.”
When you join JMatch, you aren’t left to figure it all out by yourself — the site has an assortment of advice articles to help singles find their way. Devora said she writes most of the articles in the Dating Advice section based on questions she gets from JMatch users.
We asked Devora for her top tips as a professional love coach and matchmaker, and she told us the most important thing is to show compassion for your dates. “It’s a very big responsibility once you meet another human being,” she said. “Don’t take advantage, don’t waste their time, and don’t abuse the relationship.”
“And do!” she added, with a laugh. “Do give compliments. Do see the good.”
Devora has written many insightful posts about successful dating practices, both online and offline, because she wants Jewish daters to have everything they need to find that perfect match.
“You have to climb the mountain if you want to enjoy the view,” she said in one advice article. “It is only a matter of time, patience, and persistence before success comes.”
Devora owns and operates three Jewish-friendly websites: JMatch, Bashert.org, and Jewish Singles With Special Needs (currently under construction). She told us she’s always looking for opportunities to contribute value to the Jewish singles community and is especially passionate about assisting those with special needs.
Jewish Singles With Special Needs (JSWSN.org) is a nonprofit organization that provides resources and support to singles with handicaps or disabilities.
Devora said she’s looking into adding job-hunting tools to the site so Jewish singles can match with a job as well as a date. That way, members on the site could post their job qualifications and find gainful employment opportunities in their area using a simple search. The website’s team of experts would be on hand to help people out, too.
“We are involved personally. Basically, we are going to improve this service because there’s always room for improvement,” she said. “Jobs are the second most common thing people with special needs have challenges with, I would say, behind dating.”
Throughout her career, Devora has partnered with many other charitable organizations that serve people with special needs. She sees JSWSN.org as a comprehensive guide for Jewish singles facing obstacles in their lives. You can contribute to this cause by donating through Fundly and spreading the word about the website’s good works to your friends and family.
Every day, many Jewish singles, like David, hear about JMatch through word of mouth and sign up because they’re ready to meet that special someone. The matchmaking site caters its services to the Jewish community and uses advanced technology to further the faith. Over the decades, many users have found their future spouses on the site, and some have gone on to start families.
“We are forever thankful for your hard work, efforts, dedication, and love for all that you do,” said Alissa and Ronnie, who sent the JMatch team photos of their wedding. “The people you take care of and love — we are all very lucky!”
Devora makes a point to get involved in the dating community and offer hands-on assistance to singles on JMatch. She prides herself in building a site that’s a cut above the rest because it employs matchmakers who care about Jewish singles.
“It’s not just click and swipe. It’s more goal-oriented,” she told us. “We offer more human touch and personalization than just the internet can provide.”
