When it comes to planning dates, most guys fail to remember that a date is about nothing more than getting to know your special someone better, for them to get to know you on a deeper level and for each of you to have fun. You don’t have to spend a hundred dollars on dinner or take your date on some African safari to impress them.

Most of us are content to sit on the couch next to the one in our life and snuggle. There are an infinite number of things you can to do create an awesome date experience, many that cost less than $20. Mixing up your dating routine requires you to think outside the box and consider ideas you think are goofy or cliche.

For instance, a movie marathon at home with Chinese takeout could make for a memorable evening. How about taking your date to an obscure restaurant to try a new type of food together? Plan a picnic lunch and go to a local park.

Try live theater, museums, the planetarium, comedy clubs or a trip to the zoo. Go stargazing, catch a movie matinee, visit one of your state’s historical sites or spend a day at the amusement park.

Here’s one for the books — invite your buddies and their dates over for game night and cook dinner. Games like Pictionary, Scrabble and Catchphrase promise a full night of fun.

Don’t overthink the art of dating. The process is supposed to bring you closer, not stress you out.
