Most guys see the online dating scene as a way to avoid the intimidation of a face-to-face confrontation with a woman. Still, you don’t want to blow a chance with a girl you have your eye on if you think you’ll screw it up.

My advice is to use the chat feature to make a few friends with several “Plan B” girls before you go for the big catch that you can’t live without. Don’t go for a big romantic come-on or string girls along that you are not interested in, but do a lot of “meet and greets.” Short and sweet is fine.

You will get involved in some conversations that will be a lot of fun and give you some insights into how to interact with girls online. Visit some chat rooms that have several visitors in one room and watch the conversations, but mostly try some one-on-ones where you just talk back and forth in a friendly manner.

Look for some ice-breakers or conversation starters before you chat her up. You might have a comment on her picture or a question about something in her profile. Maybe you share some interests or locations in common and just want to know if she knows a certain person or patronizes a particular establishment. That’s a good way to “shoe horn” into a conversation with the girl of your dreams when your ready for her, too.
