Remaining friends with an ex is a tricky conversation because the answer is different for each couple. What might be good for one isn’t necessarily good for another.

Breakups can be difficult, so I recommend no matter what the situation is, each couple should take a little time apart to reflect on the relationship and their feelings. If things ended on bad terms, it would be best to part ways and not keep in contact. Holding on to bad feelings will only prevent you from moving forward and finding someone you are more compatible with. While some couples can make friendships work after a breakup, others cannot and only tend to create environments that aren’t healthy for either party.

Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to determine if being friends with an ex is what’s best for you.
