Our dating experts guide readers step-by-step through relationship challenges and romantic decisions in our popular series of advice articles.

It depends on your friend. If you’re seeking relationship advice from your friend who still lives at home, drinks every night of the week, has his mom cook and clean for him and hasn’t gone on an actual date in two years, then no. If you’re asking for wisdom from your guy friend who has been happily married to his best friend since college, then yes.

The reason we have friends is because we choose to include them in our life. It’s not like family, who we’re pretty much stuck with for the good or the bad. If you can’t ask your guys friends for advice when it comes to dating, what’s the point of having friends? Relationships can strip our self-confidence. You overanalyze details and read too much into conversations.

Look at the bros in your life and decide on a few go-to’s for dating advice. Chances are, if they’re in a successful relationship, they will help you find a successful relationship using the same tips and tools they did.
