I’m a 17-year-old on summer break. My mother turned off my cellphone, so I wasn’t able to contact my girlfriend. We have been dating for two months.
Things just feel different after not talking to her for a week on a regular basis. I worry I may be exhibiting some paranoid or jealous traits.
I started the summer with a lot of plans, but I receded back into my depressive, anxiety head. She is an outgoing and fun person with so many friends, and I feel I won’t be able to keep up.
Should I just end this?

Dear Trey,
Why did your mom turn off your cell phone? If it’s financial, I understand, but if it’s because you began some risky behavior, then you may need to clean up your act to become better boyfriend material.
As for your “depressive, anxiety” head, you must remember thoughts are things. Our thoughts control our emotions. Thinking positively will lead to more positive thoughts and will give you ideas of how you can contact her.
The best thing about losing a cell phone is you’ll have to meet her face to face. The worst thing is you might fall into a less intimate email relationship.
Choose the positive route. If you believe you are “less than,” you run the risk of becoming that. Think about your wonderful worth and you will become that. Really.
