What Would You Do? Celebrity Edition

Celebrities are like a different species. They live their life in the spotlight, get chased down by paparazzi and have every little aspect of their daily life scrutinized.

So what happens when a celebrity is in a relationship with another celebrity and something goes awry? Should they be looked at as role models? Should the public try to learn from them or even follow their lead?

Let’s take a look at some of the most recent and famous celebrity pairs, what went wrong, how the mistake was dealt with and if there’s really anything us “regular” people should take away from the situation.

A few months ago, Kristen Stewart (Bella from the “Twilight” series, duh!) was caught making out with her “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders. Did I mention Sanders is married with kids?

The car smooching session resulted in a very public split between Stewart and her “Twilight” costar Robert Pattinson. The couple had been together for years.

After months of separation, Pattinson and Stewart recently reconciled in time to take part in press for the final “Twilight” film.

Did Stewart learn her lesson after putting things with the love of her life on the line for a little tonsil hockey? Will she remain faithful from now on?

I think people can take with them the reality that people make mistakes and — depending on the circumstances — can be forgiven and still do the right thing.

Any man who physically abuses a woman is a coward and the act should never go forgiven or forgotten. Barbados-born pop hotty Rihanna apparently didn’t receive the memo.

In 2009, dirt bag Brown assaulted Rihanna right before the Grammy Awards. He pled guilty to felony assault and was sentenced to five years probation.

Now the two are working on their friendship/ relationship and recording duets together.

What is wrong with Rihanna? Does she think a measly probation sentencing will ensure that Brown never smacks her around again?

What the general public can learn about this situation is steer clear of men with anger issues — no matter how famous or “talented” he is.

If you’re a fan of any of the Kardashian reality series, then you know that when Kim Kardashian falls for a guy, she falls hard. Such was the case when she met basketball player Kris Humphries.

After a very short courtship, the two married on August 2011 in a televised blitz of a wedding. Just 72 days later, Kardashian filed for divorce from Humphries.

Kardashian says she made a mistake, but Humphries says the Kardashian clan set the whole thing up for ratings.

It’s been over a year later and the two are still officially married. Sorry, Kanye West, you’ll have to wait to be husband number three.

So what can we all learn from Kim K? That it’s best to stay in the honeymoon period before you demand he put a ring on it.

Celebrities are kind of like the rest of us — they make mistakes and often do a really crappy job trying to make up for the mistake. The difference is that their lives are played out in the public eye.

So next time you get beat on by your boyfriend, cheat on him or say “I do” without really thinking it through, look to Rihanna, Stewart and Kardashian for a little relationship advice.
