Reader Question:

Can you give me some tips on how to find a steady girlfriend at my age of 64?

-Joseph (North Dakota)

Dr. Wendy Walsh’s Answer:

Joseph,

This is an excellent question, and I’ve got a great answer for you.

Go on one of the online dating sites geared to people over 50. OurTime.com is a good one. Put some realistic, recent photos up and make a profile that is authentic. It is better to really appeal to 10 percent of the women on the site than to be only sort of attractive to many.

Once you begin an email exchange, progress to phone and a quick meeting really quickly. Online dating doesn’t actually mean dating online. It means meeting online.

I promise you, there is someone out there for you, but you have to take the lead here.
