Reader Question:

I am a 63-year-old man and have known a woman for 34 years who is now 86. I am attracted to her and I know she is even more so to me. I would really love to get involved with her, as crazy as that may seem.

I want to know if it is safe for her to engage in intercourse at her advanced age. I dearly want sex with her, even regularly if possible, but NOT at the risk of her health. She is in good health as far as I know.

Is there any chance of me hopping into her bed and giving her all I have to offer?

-Jim (Minnesota)

Dr. Wendy Walsh’s Answer:

Dear Jim,

I study psychology, not anatomy. But I will tell you that research supports the fact plenty of people of both genders have a healthy sex life well into their 90s.

My suggestion is to talk to her about it. If you can’t talk about sex, then you shouldn’t be doing it.

And if there are medical questions, she should ask her doctor. Good luck to you two.
