The Short Version: Ambiance Matchmaking has been on the frontlines of the dating world during the COVID-19 pandemic. The matchmaking company’s founder Leslie Wardman has over 20 years of experience in this industry, and she had to use all her knowledge and ingenuity to keep up with the fast-changing culture. In March 2020, Leslie worried that the pandemic would ruin her business, but the opposite proved true. Over the last year, Ambiance Matchmaking has seen more serious relationship seekers come looking for expert resources to improve their love lives.

Ambiance Matchmaking is led by Leslie Wardman, a dating expert with over 20 years of matchmaking experience. Leslie has consulted with and matched singles from all walks of life, and her intuition has proven itself time and time again.

Leslie Ward became a professional matchmaker in the 1990s and founded Ambiance Matchmaking in 2002.

One of the Midwest’s most eligible bachelors hired Leslie to help him find a local woman to love. Leslie took his dating priorities into consideration, and she found a single woman who met all his criteria except for one — she lived an hour away. He said no to the match.

Undeterred, Leslie kept looking on behalf of her client and arranged several matchups. None led to a special connection, but the man renewed his membership to continue trying.

During one consultation, the client mentioned he was going to a sporting event in another city. Leslie told him that was the city where the perfect match he’d rejected lived. She asked if he would agree to meet her, and he said yes. That was three years ago, and the couple just got married last month.

“That’s why working with a matchmaker is great,” Leslie said. “We can get out our mental toolkit and help clients think outside the box and open their minds.”

Ambiance Matchmaker has successfully connected many happy couples and encouraged singles to step outside their comfort zone. During the last year, dating has been a struggle for many people around the world, and the matchmakers have been able to lend their insight and experience to make things a little easier on singles throughout the world.

A Global Health Crisis Allowed Singles to Slow Down

In March 2020, Leslie was in the heart of the jungle enjoying an off-grid getaway in Peru. She returned to civilization to find it in upheaval. The COVID-19 pandemic was a crisis that shook her professional confidence. In over 20 years in the matchmaking industry, she’d never experienced anything like it.

Leslie immediately called her team together and brainstormed some COVID-19 special offers that could keep clients from dropping their service. Leslie told us her biggest fear was that single people would stop looking for a relationship while the world was in the throes of the pandemic. However, the coming months proved that singles were actually more interested in dating and potentially finding someone to ride out the lockdown with them.

Ambiance Matchmaking can help singles realize their relationship potential and find that special someone.

“It’s causing people to slow down and start thinking about their love lives — or lack thereof,” Leslie said. “If they don’t have love, they can throw themselves into their work. It becomes a vicious cycle. COVID forced people to slow down and be at home.”

Thanks to stay-at-home mandates, singles had the chance to give their love lives more attention. It was a time of reckoning where individuals got their priorities straight. That’s when many singles started turning to Ambiance Matchmaking for help finding a lasting love.

Ambiance Matchmaking had one thing going for it during the pandemic — the team had already transitioned to remote work years ago. The company has matchmaking offices in major cities throughout North America, but its matchmakers work from home most of the time.

Leslie told us Ambiance Matchmaking has seen higher demand and more serious clients during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the team has risen to the challenge with gusto.

“Time has slowed down, and people are able to spend time in solitude and get to know themselves better. I think it’s the number one thing you can do for yourself before you enter into a relationship,” Leslie said.

Clients Connect With an International Pool

Many singles feel frustration or anxiety as they try different ways to meet new people and expand their dating pool. They can struggle to find viable love interests on their own, and that’s why it’s helpful to have an experienced and well-connected matchmaker to do the hard work and deliver quality date prospects.

Ambiance Matchmaking has a wide geographic reach that can help singles who live in big cities as well as more rural and remote areas.

“It’s wonderful that we can connect love in this way. There doesn’t have to be any borders against love,” Leslie said. “So much can be merged culturally. It tickles me pink to think about people getting together.”

Ambiance Matchmaking is currently expanding into India and Latin American countries.

In 2021, Ambiance Matchmaking has plans to grow on a global scale. The company is starting to work with singles in India and Latin America. At the same time, Leslie said the increased demand for high-end matchmaking services has led them to be even more selective about which clients they take on.

Leslie said she doesn’t want to spread her team too thin, and offering exclusive services means they can give their all to every client.

All potential clients must undergo a pre-screening process to ensure their hearts are in the right place and to help the matchmakers get them the results they desire. The questionnaire can be a good space for self-reflection, and it can uncover blocks or obstacles in a single person’s way.

Recently, a man came to Ambiance Matchmaking after trying a lot of other dating apps and even hiring matchmakers from another company. He voiced his frustration with the dating process, but the matchmakers saw his potential and took him on as a client. He got into a relationship with the second person he was matched with, and then he recommended Ambiance Matchmaker to members of his family.

Leslie explained that Ambiance Matchmaking doesn’t typically follow up with clients after the membership period ends, so it’s a special treat whenever they hear from happy couples who met through the service.

“As a matchmaker, you introduce people and that’s it. They don’t necessarily send flowers or tell you if they get married,” she said. “They’re just living happily ever after.”

Ambiance Matchmaking: A Podcast Shares Even More Dating Tips

COVID-19 ushered in a challenging time for Ambiance Matchmaking. But it also prompted the team to grow more creative and innovative. Leslie said she and her team had talked about starting a podcast in the past, and they put those plans into action in July 2020. The “Date Smart” podcast is currently ranked among the top dating advice podcasts on Spotify and Apple.

“It’s been a blast and really successful,” she said. “We’re working on other things as well. We’re constantly evolving and upgrading. We have been growing, and maybe COVID had something to do with that.”

Even while expanding and adding new projects, the Ambiance Matchmaking team never loses sight of their main goal to help clients find the right match. The matchmaking company’s highly responsive, personalized, and friendly services have made it one of the most trusted names in the industry.

Many singles are focusing on love in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that’s been an overall positive development for the matchmaking business. Leslie said she is optimistic about Ambiance Matchmaking’s future and hopes her agency will continue to showcase what expert matchmakers can do when they put their heart into their work.

“I was on board with matchmaking since before it was a thing,” Leslie said. “Now, there’s no looking back.We are constantly in forward motion and with that comes a need for talented people to join our team.”
