The Short Version: Baja California in Mexico offers a variety of dream destinations for beach-loving travelers. And when couples want to stay in luxury, they can visit the Viceroy Los Cabos Hotel. The modern hotel is situated directly on the Sea of Cortés and offers oceanfront rooms, villas, and multiroom casitas. Couples can simplify their travel by opting for romantic packages and dining at the hotel’s five restaurants and bars.

The Viceroy Los Cabos Hotel in Baja California, Mexico, aims to blur the lines between sea, sky, and land. Architect Miguel Angel Aragonés designed the hotel, and it is surrounded by water that also streams through it, making accommodations look like floating boxes when viewed from afar.

The hotel’s buildings are connected by elevated walkways over water flowing in from the Sea of Cortés. The hotel produces its own water from the ocean by using a desalination plant and a UV ray cleaning treatment, so the water is purified and safely distributed throughout the hotel.

“It’s hard not to feel both calm and stimulated the minute you walk through the entrance and behold the gleaming triple-height room with views to the sea beyond,” wrote Lauren Mowery of Forbes at the beginning of her two-day stay.

The hotel’s pool areas and restaurants are similarly picturesque, with oval-shaped pools and a nest covering one of the restaurants.

“The property presents an energized lobby and arrival experience, beach pool and bar, and expanded luxury spa. It also has a redesigned state-of-the-art fitness center curated by Los Angeles-based celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak,” said a spokesperson for Viceroy Los Cabos.

Los Cabos is near Cabo San Lucas and the colonial Mexican town of San José del Cabo and Land’s End, a famous rock arch. Couples seeking a memorable getaway can fly into the Los Cabos International Airport and drive 20 minutes to the Viceroy or choose the Cabo San Lucas International Airport, a 37-minute drive away.

Viceroy Los Cabos has been a popular destination since it opened in 2018. Though the hotel is close to many attractions in Los Cabos, one of its key benefits is that travelers don’t have to leave the premises if they don’t want to. Instead, they can lounge on their balconies or poolside, enjoy five on-site restaurants and bars, and take part in activities ranging from art classes to live music.

Sophisticated Suites and Dining Options

Couples have three choices when deciding on one of the hotel’s 198 rooms: guestroom, junior suite, or suite.

Guestrooms come with partial ocean views, floor-to-ceiling windows, mood lighting, an espresso machine, and rainfall showers. Other highlights include furnished balconies and high-end bath products. Couples also experience such luxurious services as complimentary bed turndowns, bathrobes, and an Alexa-powered engagement with hotel staff.

“Every Partial Ocean View guestroom is fashioned to evoke a sense of well-being and harmony with the water and sky,” according to the hotel.

Junior suites have similar amenities and views, and afford more living space, including a dining table, living room, and sitting area.

Suites are noteworthy for their outdoor-indoor living space. They open up onto the water, and some come equipped with outdoor soaking tubs.

Viceroy Los Cabos accommodations are spacious and include stunning views of the property.

If couples travel with friends or children, they may opt for a casita or villa instead. The hotel offers three, four, or five-bedroom options, and the small houses include rooftop terraces and swimming pools, floor-to-ceiling windows, and terrace grills.

After couples have settled into their accommodations, they can explore the hotel’s eating and drinking establishments.

“The resort has five distinct, lively restaurants and bars on the property. Guests can enjoy an oceanfront breakfast at Casero Restaurant, ceviche at NIDO, cocktails at Nidito Beach + Poolside Bar, specialty drinks at Otro Bar, or endless views from Cielomar Rooftop,” the spokesperson told us.

NIDO, which means nest in Spanish, is surrounded by water mirrors (or espejos de agua), and serves sushi and sashimi dishes. Cielomar Rooftop (which means sky and sea) serves fresh seafood, pizza, and grilled entrées.
Guests can also order cocktails and food poolside.

Romantic Packages Help Couples Relax and Rejuvenate

Couples who want to unwind together may want to consider choosing a package that adds a unique twist to their experience.

The Romance Package, for instance, includes everything a couple might need for a relaxing stay. When a couple arrives, they’re picked up at the airport in a Tesla and taken to the hotel, where they receive a rose at check-in. They will stay for three nights in Ocean View accommodations, enjoy a prix fixe menu at NIDO, and participate in a 60-minute couples interactive massage at the in-house spa.

The 11,000-square-foot spa is worth a trip by itself thanks to its vitality pools, a grotto with thermal chambers, experience showers, and ice fountains.

When they return to their room for the night, couples are greeted with a rose petal turndown, heart-shaped macarons with framboise ganache, and a bottle of champagne.

The Viceroy Los Cabos offers plenty of amenities, including a unique pool and rejuvenating spa.

Couples can also get married at the hotel and make a memory that lasts a lifetime.

“For those looking to tie the knot, the Viceroy Los Cabos is also a prime destination for a beautiful oceanfront ceremony,” said the hotel’s spokesperson. “The resort offers a wedding package where couples can book an intimate wedding celebration and experience with the I Do & Anniversary for Two package — bundled with extra amenities and offers that make planning easy and infinitely more enjoyable.”

Couples who marry at the resort also receive a complimentary two-night stay on their first anniversary.

The Viceroy makes weddings special, and the hotel plans and hosts a reception for up to 50 guests. After the ceremony, couples stay in an Ocean View Suite, where they enjoy a miniature version of their wedding cake, champagne, and rose petals.

Viceroy Los Cabos Offers a Variety of Fun Activities

The Viceroy Los Cabos offers couples a relaxing stay in paradise. Throughout the year, the hotel hosts many events that couples can enjoy during their stay.

For instance, the staff offers art classes and workshops throughout the week. Couples could try an experimental class together where they find natural objects to spark their creativity.

Couples can also listen to live music on the Cielomar Rooftop every Friday and Saturday.

Those thoughtful details have made Viceroy Los Cabos a must-visit destination by many of the world’s leading publications. It was named one of the World’s Greatest Places to visit by TIME Magazine and the top resort in Western Mexico in Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.

Guests share the personal touches that made their experience memorable.

“We have stayed at the Viceroy multiple times. With every time we fall more and more in love. The staff at the Viceroy is amazing! The service at the pools is phenomenal. If there is something that is not on the menu, the staff was able to accommodate at all times. All the staff members made us feel like family. The food at all the restaurants is first class. We can’t wait to return,” one guest wrote on Tripadvisor.

Los Cabos has many beautiful places and experiences for couples to appreciate. At a hotel as all-inclusive as the Viceroy, many find themselves spending all of their time connecting with each other.
