On FriendFinder-X, playful adults can find flirtation, explicit content, maybe even real-life romance, all in one spot. I checked out this sex-forward site and found an extensive community sharing raunchy messages, photos, and videos. Even with a bare-bones profile, I received 48 messages in one week. This is an anonymous space for seeking sex, chatting on message boards, and watching adult entertainment. Viewing profiles and livestreams is free, and paying as little as $20 a month for the Gold membership will unlock private messaging, member webcams, and other goodies.

FriendFinder-X doesn’t mess around. It makes clear exactly what type of friends you’ll find on this site. On the homepage, the tagline jumps out: “Where good girls do bad things.”

What a way to set the tone.

This isn’t a site for soul searching or dating for marriage. It’s a sex-positive site where many people are asking to exchange nudes or sext within the first couple of messages. Members can watch sexy livestreams in the same place where they’re messaging other singles.

I joined FriendFinder-X to see what the experience was like for users. I wanted to know what types of messages I’d actually receive, and let me tell you: It ran the gamut.

My FriendFinder-X profile got a lot of action. I upgraded to the Gold Membership after spending a couple days with the free version. I’ll walk you through my entire experience, from getting the profile up and running to browsing to receiving a whole bunch of spicy messages.

Jumping Into FriendFinder-X

The signup process is about as simple as it gets. Most FriendFinder-X users want to get on the site now, and with minimal effort. The site delivered on that front.

It took me about 10 minutes to sign up, and I didn’t run into any roadblocks. I just filled in my contact information, selected some of my demographic information and basic preferences, and bam: I was off to the races.

Minimal Basic Information Required

To start, I had the option to choose my gender and the gender(s) I was looking for. To FriendFinder-X’s credit, there were options for couples and trans people, and I could select “nonbinary” as a match option as well.

A valiant effort toward inclusivity, especially for a site launched in the 1990s.

Users don’t need to lock themselves into a gay-straight binary.

Later, I found out that the only way to change my gender identity (even just a switch to “couple”) would be to pay $9.90. A ConfirmID verification step would also be required.

I had to share my birthday, country, and ZIP code. I then wrote in my email and desired username.

The site then had me answer a couple of quick questions regarding my sexuality, body type, race, and marital status. While I don’t love when sites emphasize body type or race, I understand these facets can be relevant to sexual attraction. And it wasn’t required to answer.

FriendFinder-X signup questions about sexual orientation and body type.
There were very few mandatory profile questions on FriendFinder-X.

Next I filled out my bio, which was an unstructured space for saying just about anything. Some writing ideas were available for anyone feeling stumped on what to say. I went with a simple, “I’m excited to chat :)” and moved on.

Once I was done, my profile was officially sent for approval, and I had to verify my email. Everything was quickly approved.

As a last step, I was asked to verify my age through a third-party software. It took a scan of my face to automatically verify that I was over 18, but apparently, I look too youthful for that to work (trying to take that as an AI-driven compliment).

So I had to upload a photo of my ID to prove my age, which, according to FriendFinder-X, was immediately deleted. Let’s hope.

Finally, my profile was verified, and it was time to access the site.

Editing My Profile With Discreet Details

I wouldn’t say I got the deepest look into people’s daily lives and motivations on FriendFinder-X, but I did get a lot of insight into their sexual interests. Verging into the TMI range.

Users have the option to choose their kinks and join interest groups, which are niche communities on the site for specific sexual interests.

I also had the option to upload Bling — gifs or icons that show specific interests, most of which were sexual in nature. Some were phrases, like “Always Horny,” while others were sexual images, like penetration or a bare breast.

If I were someone who posted videos or livestreams on the site, I could also upload testimonials on my page, like a business. Which, I suppose, for some users, it is.

I could also add blog posts if I wrote or enjoyed any sexy erotica on the site, and I could display member videos I had favorited (which, btw, if you upload a video, anyone can share it, but it’ll be deleted if you delete the original).

FriendFinder-X profile information
The site includes standard profile information as well as some kinky details.

While I would need to manually add these prompts, I could add more traditional profile information, like my religion or drinking habits.

To my surprise, I did see a decent number of profiles with in-depth personal information, including whether they have or want children.

Browsing Sexy Profiles For Free

Before I started looking through profiles, I decided to go in and set my preferences to “No Nudity.”

Something I so appreciate about FriendFinder-X is that users can decide the level of explicit content they want to see. Personally, I wanted to avoid seeing random nudes out of the blue.

FriendFinder-X has three content filter levels
I set my viewing preferences to “No Nudity” to avoid any jump scares.

Once my preferences were set, I clicked on the Search tab to begin browsing. I had the choice to view members sorted by those Online, On IM, New Matches, Near Me, or VIP.

I think these sorting tools are great, especially for a site like FriendFinder-X, where many members are looking to chat — and let’s be honest, sext — ASAP.

I saw a wide array of profiles. Most of them were men in central Florida — close to where I had set my location — and many of them had clear profile photos where I could easily see their faces and what they looked like.

FriendFinder-X profiles
Most profiles were complete on FriendFinder-X and gave me a ton of useful information.

I assume that pretty much everyone on the site was looking for sex or sexual content in some capacity, and yet a fair number of profiles had tame, non-sexual profiles.

One profile bio read: “I really am a laid back soul. This life is a gift. We need to live it. I love live music, the beach and traveling,” and then listed off many kinks. I guess some people are looking for genuine romantic connection AND sexual connection, and there’s certainly no shame in that.

Kink filter options
FriendFinder-X profiles can display kinks ranging from anal sex to voyeurism.

Members can search by kink — a logical option for people looking for something more specific or unique. It’s a lot easier to start chatting with someone who openly states that they’re into clamps if that’s what you know you want.

Messages, Sexts, & Videos, Oh My!

I got a lot of messages on FriendFinder-X — at the time of writing this, 48 people have messaged my fairly nondescript profile.

A message reading, "hey there, how are you doing today"
Some of the messages I received were pretty benign, and others were much spicier.

And let me tell you: There was a lot of variety in my inbox.

Some were simple and friendly — asking how I am, how my day’s going, or if I would be interested in chatting further. The types of things you’d see on any old dating site.

Then there was the next level of intensity: The ones that had a moderate level of spice. Some asked what I was into. One asked if I liked younger guys, and another asked if I liked older guys.

Personally, I think this is the appropriate level of spiciness for a first message on a site like FriendFinder-X. Still flirty for sure, but getting some consent before getting too wild.

Finally, I got some straight-up sexts off the bat. Some of the dirty deets were blocked by my “no nudity” setting. I had to turn it off to see what the messages contained.

Many of these were full frontal dick pics. One user asked if I “liked to chat naked,” and another said, “Let me hold you up against a wall.”

I noticed that I got more messages while I was viewing the site, meaning that my online status likely made my profile come up higher and attract these sexy messages.

Livestreams and Webcams Galore

The messages I received seemed pretty intense in terms of graphic detail, but they’ve got nothing on the webcam sections on the site, which were fully adult content.

The member webcams were largely men masturbating on camera. The professional webcams were sorted by porn category, with further payment options to view different pros. This portion of the site functioned like OnlyFans or other livestreaming sites.

Not exactly what I was looking for, but it definitely combines sexual interests for a lot of members.

Community… But Make it Sexy

The Community portion of the site is pretty unique. Members can join groups, follow blogs, and post on message boards about any of their interests, most of them sexual.

A community post about an upcoming livestream
Many of the posts on the community board facilitate future sexual connections or connect to live streams.

Some people run smutty blogs on the site. Some people post their own interests and what they want done to them, looking for partners who might share their fantasies and want to turn them into reality.

Many post their locations to see if anyone wants to show up in real life for sexual encounters ranging from one-night stands to orgies.

It’s unclear to me how much of the message board talk translates into actual IRL connection or if it’s primarily fantasy talk. But there is a lot of community activity on FriendFinder-X.

Going Paid Opens Doors: Here’s What It Costs

I know what you’re thinking: Do I really need the paid version? After all, there are free dating sites. There are free porn sites. What could possibly be so good that I need to pay for it?

With FriendFinder-X, you basically need to pay for a Gold Membership if you want to communicate at all. You can’t message otherwise. You also can’t view entire profiles or see all their photos.

I upgraded to the Gold Membership, and it completely changed the experience. Instantly I went from a lurker to a chatter, and I could have more engaging interactions without being reined in.

If you intend to be on the site for a year or longer, $20 bucks isn’t too shabby of a rate. I know people who’ve paid more for Tinder.

Here are all the perks that come with Gold Membership:

  • Advanced searching
  • View complete profiles
  • Initiate, read, and reply to messages
  • View full-length videos
  • Comment on photos and videos
  • Watch live member webcams
  • View favorite photos and videos
  • Send friend requests
  • Send flirts
  • Maximum members in the Hot List
  • Priority customer service via phone
  • Technical support by email

And if Gold status isn’t doing it for you, the VIP membership is on offer for $29.95/month. Users with this elite status are featured higher in searches and get more points to use to tip the webcam models (Gold members get 100 points; VIP members get 1,000 points).

Paid members get into the action while free members miss out on a lot of sexy content. They can browse on the main page, search for specific members, and join chat rooms. But messaging and viewing livestreams are off limits, which makes the site more of a tease.

What I Like So Far

I like how full the profiles are. Most of the people I came across on the site seemed to be pretty enthusiastic users, which meant I found a lot of information about sexual interests.

I like how the site had different settings for the level of nudity users were comfortable with. I didn’t want to see nudes, but it’s great that there’s an option for those who do!

I like how many messages I received — way more than I’d received on other hookup sites.

If you’re looking to sext, you’ll find plenty of people ready to do so on FriendFinder-X.

I like how users have the option to chat on community message boards. It seems like many are looking to meet up for casual sex IRL, and it’s probably more productive for them to find like-minded people this way rather than messaging individuals.

I like how you can sort searches by people who are currently online. For casual sexting, this is more productive and straightforward.

What I Don’t Like So Far

I don’t like how crowded the site is. From browsing to livestreaming, there’s SO MUCH, and I found it sort of overwhelming to navigate.

I don’t like how even with nudity blocked, I still received explicit messages or saw photos that clearly had the shadow of a penis. The tamer version should be a smidge, well, tamer.

FriendFinder-X dashboard
This site is busy, which makes it difficult to navigate.

I don’t like how limited the free version of the site is. Free members can’t fully view or message anyone.

I don’t like that most of the photos are low-quality and low effort — even the ones that aren’t nudes. It makes the profiles seem less attractive.

Here are my quick pros and cons about the site overall:

Pros

  • I received 48 messages within my first week.
  • My profiles were detailed and included sexual interests.
  • I could choose if I wanted to see nude content.
  • Helpful kink filters and spaces sorted by new, close by, and online now.

Cons

  • I found the site design difficult to navigate because of all the different tabs.
  • Free members can’t chat or view all photos.
  • Not many personal compatibility matching tools.

Safety & Verification

I was pretty impressed with the safety precautions and verification process on FriendFinder-X.

They take great care to make sure that all users are over 18; I even had to upload a picture of my license, given my youthful-seeming good skin (ha ha). This is especially important given that profile photos are not required on the site.

Users should be prepared to see some nudity and explicit content. That’s the “X” part of FriendFinder-X.

I think it’s great that FriendFinder-X has nudity filters that let individuals customize their content preferences, but some sexual stuff will likely slip through the cracks.

Even with my “no nudity” setting, I saw Blings of cunnilingus. One man’s profile picture showed part of what was obviously his penis. I certainly saw explicitly sexual language.

I wouldn’t necessarily say this is a safety issue. It’s just good to go with realistic expectations for this sex-forward site.

When it comes to physical safety online, I felt like FriendFinder-X’s verification process does a lot of work to scare off the potential bad actors who might be interested in taking advantage of folks.

Still, as is the case with meeting strangers anywhere, you always need to be on guard against potential danger. I would not recommend meeting up with someone you don’t know without vetting them at least a little in chats.

And I certainly wouldn’t recommend giving out any financial information to anyone online ever.

Who It Helps

Best For: FriendFinder-X works best for sex-positive people who want to explore fetishes and fantasies in an anonymous online space.

Not Good For: Starry-eyed love seekers, asexual people, or anyone squeamish about porn.

Inclusiveness: FriendFinder-X is 10/10 in inclusiveness. I saw categories for every kink imaginable, and some I didn’t know existed.

Age Demographics: Everyone must be over 18 and verify that before they can connect. The ages on the profiles I saw ran the gamut from 22 to 73.

FriendFinder-X Works, But be Prepared for an Explicit Experience

If you’re looking for a very sexual dating site, I think FriendFinder-X is a great option. There are plenty of users, many of whom were in my area and ready to chat. The sexual tension and excitement were palpable, so anyone looking to get their rocks off will quickly find opportunities.

On the flip side, this is not for the prudish. If you’re just looking for some light flirting, FriendFinder-X might be too XXX. This isn’t the place to dip your toes into sexting; this is the place to dive in, headfirst.

But if you’re ready to take the leap, I think you’ll have a lot of fun on FriendFinder-X.
