Men's Dating
The Short Version: While many people take food delivery for granted today, very few options existed a little more than a decade ago. In 2005, Greg Miller realized that busy families and couples needed access to easy, restaurant-quality meals, so he launched MagicKitchen.com. The business delivers flash-frozen, chef-prepared meals to your doorstep, making healthy eating simple and helping busy couples stay committed to their balanced diets. MagicKitchen.com’s customers run the gamut — from 20-somethings to seniors — and the site offers both a la carte and full meal options. It also caters to special diets including vegetarian, gluten-free, and diabetic.
Today, couples have many options for getting healthy meals or ingredients delivered to their door. But back in 2005, that kind of service was mostly nonexistent.
At the time, Greg Miller was working in senior management in the tech industry, which he says was financially rewarding but provided him very little personal satisfaction. He and his partner wanted to create a business that helped them feel a sense of purpose. They saw that busy families and couples wanted to eat healthy food but didn’t have the time for all the preparation. So Greg and his partner launched MagicKitchen.com in Northern California to help make delicious, nutritious meals more accessible.
“MagicKitchen.com was started in late 2005 to assist people who had issues in planning, shopping for, preparing, and cooking meals that are healthy and nutritious,” said Greg, who serves as CEO of the company. “We decided to use only top-quality ingredients — organic when possible — to produce our meals.” Over time, the company has added options for a number of special diets, and customers can choose between a la carte food items or complete meals.
Because of MagicKitchen.com, couples can take the day off from cooking without having to worry about derailing their healthy eating habits. And the company allows meals to be gifted to those in need of high-quality food but who don’t have the time or capacity to cook for themselves.
Since starting MagicKitchen.com, Greg’s business partner and Company President, Michelle Tayler, went back to school and became a registered dietitian, thus bringing even more expertise to the team.
As one of the first businesses to offer pre-made, healthy food delivery, MagicKitchen.com is a pioneer in the industry. While many food delivery options exist today, few services compare to MagicKitchen.com’s.
“In the healthy and simple-to-prepare meals arena, there aren’t many companies that do what we do,” Greg said. “Most are either meal prep companies — ingredients only provided and you cook the meal — or gourmet food companies, like lobsters or high-end protein products.”
MagicKitchen.com is also unique in that users can order individual items — such as soups, sides, main dishes, and desserts — or order complete meals. You can choose between small and large portions, and the site shows you the number of servings for each item. You can also order meal bundles as a gift, or just to keep your freezer stocked.
MagicKitchen.com caters to both common menus and special diets, including gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free, low-sodium, low-fat, low-carb, diabetic, and dialysis-friendly, among others.
MagicKitchen.com has nearly 50,000 customers who run the gamut from 20-year-olds to seniors. About 60% of its customer base is above the age of 45, but people of all ages use the site to simplify meal preparation and shopping, especially when they’re on special diets. “Many of these customers may have difficult dietary needs to support — such as type 1 or 2 diabetes,” Greg said.
Many of the company’s customers also send the service as a gift to friends, family members, employees, or co-workers due to life changes, celebrations, or emergencies. This includes joyous occasions like anniversaries or college graduations, but it also includes life events like the birth of a new baby, a death in the family, a family member returning home from the hospital, or any time when someone could benefit from the convenience of pre-made meals.
“I ordered food from MagicKitchen.com for a relative who was recuperating from knee surgery at home. She so appreciated the prepared food available to her those first few days when she had trouble getting around. She said the food arrived in good order and was all ready to heat and eat, and was just delicious,” said a customer named Barbara E. in a testimonial that exemplifies why the meals make such a great gift.
In our busy modern world, it’s easy to get off track when it comes to eating healthy or sticking to a special diet. Being supported in your quest can make a lasting, positive impact. So couples who use MagicKitchen.com together may find it easier to support each other’s healthy habits.
The MagicKitchen.com staff is truly dedicated to their mission of making their customers’ lives easier. “We work hard and play hard as a team,” Greg said.

They regularly have staff outings — such as boating trips on a lake or group dinners — so the team can socialize with each other and their families. According to Greg, the business typically pays up to to 25% higher salaries than other companies in the area to attract and retain top talent. “Our company hires only hard-working, creative, positive people to be on our team for the long term,” he said.
The company’s entire customer support team is fluent in both English and Spanish. You can reach a representative by phone or email. Customers also have access to MagicKitchen.com’s in-house dietitian if they have any questions about the meals or their dietary needs.
MagicKitchen.com is dedicated to making delicious, healthy meals that are easy for anyone — from young couples to senior singles — to cook at home. In 2017, the company decided to improve its services by moving all its operations from California to Kansas.
While the move was challenging in many ways, it allowed the business to expand its distribution center — which is now seven times larger than its previous space. MagicKitchen.com is currently working on securing new vendor options and building its team. Several of the MagicKitchen.com’s customer support team members have grown up with the company, and a few even moved with it from California.
“The distribution center staff is still settling in since we recently moved from our prior warehouse facility in the central Kansas City area to Lenexa, on the southwest edge of greater Kansas City,” Greg said. “We are aggressively building this team and hoping to fully implement a self-directed workforce quickly.”
The move is all part of MagicKitchen.com’s mission to provide healthy, diet-specific meals to every one of its customers.
