The Short Version: Online dating has developed into a great segue into meeting new people from around the world. But even as online dating grows in popularity, some singles still find themselves wondering whether online dating is only for hookups or pen pals. With dating sites like SetForMarriage, singles will soon discover that there are genuine people on the other side of the screen with the same mission to find true love. Singles can find comfort knowing that SetForMarriage is a straightforward platform that is just as serious about marriage as they are.

The truth about online dating is that you never truly know what to expect. You are essentially putting yourself in a situation where you don’t know who you’ll meet along the way. But if I’m being honest,  I think that’s the point! You just have to hope for the best, knowing that any step is one step closer in finding the one. Although online dating is a risk, it’s a risk that many singles still find worth taking.

It’s refreshing to know that dating sites are constantly evolving as the world changes. Keeping up with societal trends is essential when trying to connect people. After all, you have to know what you’re working with.

Getting married is still a goal for a lot of singles out there. Luckily for them, they can cut out all the shenanigans and benefit from the dating site SetForMarriage. This platform was built on the belief that everyone deserves to experience the joys of finding true love.

Brad Boyd created SetForMarriage in 2007.

SetForMarriage was founded in 2007 by CEO Brad Boyd. He said he was inspired by his friend’s struggle to find a wife through countless online dating sites. When Brad created SetForMarriage, he had high hopes of finding a solution for serious singles wanting to get married. Brad said he aims to simplify the process of finding a potential marriage partner.

“We felt there needed to be a better option than trudging along in bars and nightclubs or filtering through static photos on a dating website in an attempt to establish a connection with someone, only to hope you have the same end goal in mind,” Brad said.

With SetForMarriage, there is no questioning what the end goal is because everyone on the site wants to get married. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, SetForMarriage has become an even more effective resource for singles to connect with other people — making it possible for social interaction to exist within four walls.

A Community of Like-Minded People

Finding a potential lifetime partner could normally take years. But when you surround yourself with the right people, it can take a couple of months. Being around like-minded people who want to be married makes all the difference in your journey to find true companionship. Brad said he heard the call to change the way online dating works after his friend’s experience with online dating.

SetForMarriage stands out as a dating site that doesn’t participate in algorithms or formulas to help people find each other. Instead, the app is designed to allow people to connect through organic conversations and meetings. Brad told us that going the matchmaking route may not give an accurate depiction of what singles need or want out of a relationship — a computer-generated match can miss the mark in important ways.

SetForMarriage welcomes everyone ready to tie the knot.

“What we don’t want to do is force-feed or force spoon-feed people to you, ” Brad said. “Instead you’re able to browse the people around you and learn as much about them as possible. And then from there determine whether or not you want to meet in person.”

SetForMarriage strongly believes that there is a special someone for everyone, and it doesn’t have to take rocket science to find them. The team prides itself on being strong advocates for marriage for everyone. “Marriage is awesome! It’s in everything we do and provide. We promise!” the team exclaimed.

There’s no need for users to be afraid to bring up the conversation  of marriage — a touchy topic that’s not often brought up on a first date. The SetForMarriage team ensures that those who sign up are genuinely seeking marriage and not the casual dating and hookups. That makes it easier for singles to get straight to the point.

The dating platform includes people from all over the world and from different backgrounds. Brad told us that people from their early 20s to 70s use SetForMarriage to find a partner. Regardless of age, everyone on the site is looking for a serious long-term and committed relationship.

Dynamic Interaction: Likes, Winks and Follow Features

Since SetForMarried doesn’t participate in any mathematical system to match people, the team had to get creative in how to connect singles. SetForMarriage uses Dynamic Interaction features that are similar to the features on popular social media sites. Members have the ability to follow, like, and interact with one another the same way they would on sites like Facebook or Twitter.

One neat addition to the site is that members can interact with one another without being exclusive. Members can make posts on their pages to share a glimpse of their personality and their interests. The app also provides members with the option to search for members that possess compatible traits.

Although the search feature is a helpful tool, Brad explained that it’s purposefully not too detailed. The site developers didn’t want the search feature to distract users from what’s really important. Singles can’t search for a potential partner by putting in superficial criteria for height, income, or jobs. Instead they’re able to look up common interests and where people are located.

Brad and the SetForMarriage team maintain that sometimes finding a partner is about finding your opposite. It’s amazing that people often find themselves better suited for someone who is completely opposite from them. Making the saying, “opposites attract” not a myth after all.

“I think there’s something to be said for opposites attracting and opposites working out. A lot of people want opposition. I haven’t met a lot of people that say ‘I want to marry my identical twin,’” Brad said.

SetForMarriage Encourages Singles to Get Serious

The question “are you set for marriage?” is commonly asked when joining SetForMarriage. The platform is not for singles who just want to date, have some fun, or find a temporary friend. Instead it’s for those who are confident knowing that they want to get married. The overarching goal is to create a community where singles don’t have to second-guess the whole marriage process.

It’s safe to say that there’s a difference between wanting to date and wanting to get married. Some may not be able to tell the two apart. But it’s important to be clear about your goals if you want to avoid wasting time or ending up in a situationship.

Singles should self-reflect before joining SetForMarriage to see if they’re really ready.

Oftentimes those singles who are ready to get married have a different mindset when it comes to relationships. They’re more dedicated and open-minded. Certain challenges, such as distance, no longer are a major red flag. Brad told us that when singles casually date with no agenda, they don’t necessarily want to connect with someone who isn’t in close proximity to them. But for those individuals who are genuinely on the hunt for true love and marriage, distance may not be a big dealbreaker anymore.

Brad and the SetForMarriage team are dedicated to pioneering new ways to help relationship-ready singles meet and get married. In the coming year, the team plans to improve the app and add new features that tailor to the needs of members.

When asked what advice he would give to new members, Brad said that patience is pivotal to have throughout the process. Singles never know when their special moment will come, but they don’t have to be alone in the journey. The SetForMarriage team is going to be there every step of the way.

“Being truly authentic is the number one thing to do. Be yourself. Challenges can pop up later if you don’t. Step two is to really know and have an understanding of what you truly and ultimately want,” Brad said.
