With the change of seasons, there’s been an increase of singles reactivating their online dating profiles.

Even new people (including celebrities) are jumping on the online dating bandwagon.

At this time of year, singles feel anxious.

Perhaps their summer romance fizzled out, or they just can’t imagine going home for the holidays without having a steady boyfriend of girlfriend in tow.

Thoughts of finding someone to kiss under the mistletoe or celebrate New Year’s with can be overwhelming.

So before you have an anxiety attack about your relationship status, understand that both online and offline holidays make singles much more anxious.

With online dating, you need to take a big, deep digital breath before thinking your shelf life has expired and realize that forming an instant relationship online doesn’t mean you’ll be with the person who is the right match for you offline.

Filling up your dating docket while thinking it’s a numbers game isn’t the best solution for your love life either.

Downloading mobile dating apps is a huge convenience and speeds up the dating process, but it also eliminates many filters. The next thing you know, you’re looking for a LTR and he’s looking for a hookup.

It’s enough to make any dater a bit anxious.

In a JDate and Christian Mingle study about the impact of mobile phones on dating and relationships, researchers found 50 percent of singles believe they could be addicted to their cell phones.

Does this create an online dating anxiety disorder? I believe so.

Further surveys showed if you didn’t receive a reply from someone you sent an email to within 24 hours, assume they aren’t interested.

There’s a fine line between playing hard to get and being too excited about the possibility of finding your dream date online.

It’s a bit of a digital dance, but don’t let your confidence or self-worth plummet if your inbox isn’t full within 24 hours of communicating. It’s just one day during someone’s busy week.

Confidence is sexy – plain and simple.

From the way you look into the camera for your Internet dating photos, to that confident smile when you show up for your online date, this sets the tone for who responds to you and who wants to meet you in real life.

Both men and women don’t want to be with someone who appears too anxious.

People live their busy lives, often have work or family commitments and sometimes are just busy and don’t get back to you within the new expected timetable of four hours.

Dating isn’t a race to the finish line.

It’s about exploring many opportunities with a variety of people to determine what you’re really looking for. Enjoy the ride.

Are you feeling anxious about the upcoming holidays? Do you think you can find love online this fall?
