Fun relationship quizzes can be a great tool for singles and couples alike. If you’re single, a relationship quiz can help you narrow down what you’re looking for and discover things about yourself to help you find a healthy relationship. For couples, relationship quizzes can make it easier to open up about issues in your partnership, help you spice up your sex life, or give you an idea on what next steps you’re ready to take.

There’s a quiz for every occasion out there, and these quizzes take the top spots in the eyes of our dating experts.

Dating Quizzes For Compatibility

These quizzes help you understand aspects of your own personality, and that of a potential partner, so you understand what may make you compatible. They can show you what to look for in a significant other so your relationship is full of chemistry and affection instead of stress and misunderstanding.

1. eharmony’s Compatibility Questionnaire

When eharmony first launched, its in-depth personality test set it apart in the online dating world. While the long-term relationship dating site is far from the only platform to bring an online quiz into matchmaking, eharmony’s compatibility questionnaire goes deep. The test, developed by co-founder Dr. Neil Clark Warren, examines 32 different dimensions of personality.

According to the eharmony site, these dimensions help form the foundations of compatibility between two people, from emotional intimacy to introversion vs. extroversion and beyond.

The compatibility questionnaire doesn’t just help eharmony find matches for its members. It’s a great tool to help people understand who they are and find out what to look for in a boyfriend, girlfriend — or any other partner they are searching for — based on the questionnaire’s results.

2. Truity’s Love Match Quiz

Truity already developed a reputation for thought-provoking quizzes before they created their Love Match quiz. The site started with the most highly-rated Enneagram test in the United States, and expanded over the years. With lots of data on relationships, dynamics between Enneagram types, and more, the Truity team launched the love quiz to help steer people toward a more successful relationship.

You don’t have to know your Enneagram or even know much of anything about Enneagrams to take the quiz. Just answer the questions and get your results! Once you’ve figured out what your perfect match looks like, you can go back and take the basic personality quiz to learn more about what makes you tick.

3. Lantern’s Dating Quiz

Lantern sets itself apart in the crowded dating app market by offering a completely different experience. Instead of just filling out a profile and getting matches, you go on narrative journeys with potential partners, and eventually find one to meet in real life. The app itself is a set of different quizzes each with a choose-your-own adventure story providing the information to match you up to another app user.

Based on the story you select, you answer 15-20 questions and go through one of several different scenarios, all geared toward helping you learn about yourself as much as you connect with another person on the app. Each story you play through brings more insights, and helps you find the right match.

Personality Quizzes For Introspection & Self-Growth

These quizzes are all about helping you look within and become a better person and a better dater. Delve into what makes you tick, understand what is going on in your relationships and why you may be locked into patterns that aren’t making you happy.

4. Match’s Personality Quiz

Dating sites were a new thing when Match launched in 1995, but it didn’t launch the Match Personality Quiz until 2008. The dating platform’s personality assessment is designed to identify compatibility and set singles on the path to finding love.

The fun quiz doesn’t take too long, and sorts users into one of a few different personality types, including Explorer, Builder, Negotiator, and Director. After you get your results, you can compare notes with other Match members and use the insights to steer you toward better matches.

You don’t have to take the test to become a Match member, but it can provide you with some details into what makes you tick, and what you should be looking for in a potential partner.

5. Anatomy of Love

A team of scientists asked themselves the question: what is love? And to find the answer, Helen Fisher and Lucy Brown developed the Anatomy of Love. In addition to the studies and Dr. Fisher’s TED Talks, the site features several different relationship and love quizzes to help you better understand who you are and how your love life works. Fisher also offers a quiz book for people who want to keep things old school.

No brain scan required, the quizzes on Anatomy of Love let you explore how you experience attraction to the opposite sex or same sex, how your mind works, and several other dimensions of love, personality, and more.

6. Five Love Languages

What’s your Love Language? That’s the core question behind the Five Love Languages quiz, developed by author and theologian Gary Chapman. The theory behind Chapman’s personality test is that everyone expresses and receives love in one or more of five basic ways: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, physical touch, or acts of service. Chapman further argues that when couples don’t understand each other’s love languages, the relationship suffers.

Whether you’re single and trying to understand what you should be looking for or a married couple trying to keep your relationship strong, finding out your love languages can lead to a better, more satisfying love life. If nothing else, the quiz can get the conversation started when it comes to how your partner can best satisfy your emotional needs.

Fun Quizzes For Couples

Couples can get in on the relationship quiz game, too! Whether you’re looking for something to break the ice on a date, seeking to change things up in the bedroom, or understand what’s really happening with your partner, these quizzes are a way to start fun conversations and delve a little deeper into your relationship.

7. Gottman’s Relationship Quiz

If you wonder how well you and your significant other know each other, you can opt for one of the quizzes in magazines like Cosmo, or you can use a tool like the Gottman Institute Relationship Quiz. The Gottman Institute takes an evidence-based approach to relationships, and the quiz comes from years of research into what makes successful relationships work.

For a more lighthearted version of the couples quiz, try out The Love Jungle, an app-based couple game that uses the data compiled by Gottman as the basis of a series of Q&A games that help you better understand how your relationship is going, how your partner is feeling, and where you might need extra help.

8. Cobble’s Date Night Questions

If you’ve gone on a few dates with someone, or if you’ve been in a couple for a long time, you’ve probably experienced the dreaded cycle of asking each other “What do you what to do tonight?”

Cobble CEO Jordan Scott built the app to help couples spark a date night idea anytime they need one.

The Cobble App Shows Couples How to Have a Good Time
Cobble asks couples to swipe yes or no on date ideas.

The app uses some of the same features of a standard dating app, but instead of swiping to match with another person, you’re comparing potential activities to set up a date. You and your partner (or friend!) can each go through each other’s lists based on Cobble’s suggestions and arrive at the perfect date without a long, boring conversation.

9. 20 Questions Game

The game of 20 Questions is far from a new thing, with the earliest recorded versions going back to the 1800s. But an AI-powered version may just be one of the most effective conversation starters out there, making it easy for new couples to break the ice and established couples to explore how well they know each other.

The fun questions and the spookily accurate algorithm make for a straightforward, simple method to get to know your partner better. It can also open up conversations that drift away from the subject of the 20 Questions and onto memories, life experiences, and more.

10. We Should Try It’s Intimacy Questionnaire

Sexual fantasies and kinks can be a sensitive subject to discuss with your partner, and more than one marriage has hit a rough patch as the partners struggle with how to ask for what they want. We Should Try It takes the pressure off putting it all out there. You and your partner simply go through and answer each of the 75 questions about boundaries, activities, positions, and more.

The questionnaire and the companion app can also help couples in long-distance relationship situations by offering opportunities to explore even if you’re not often in the same room together. If you’re looking for a low-stakes method for discussing your sexual desires, We Should Try It offers a judgment-free setting where you and your partner can explore.

Bonus! Good Questions For a New Match

Starting a new relationship is exciting and fun, but sometimes the butterflies in your stomach are more about uncertainty. If you’re wondering whether you’re ready to get serious with your new partner, our dating experts have some good advice.

Before you get serious with another person, our experts recommend a brief relationship commitment test with questions that help you and your partner find out what you’re looking for, how you both look at relationships and expectations, and strategies for dealing with the inevitable troubles that every partnership runs into from time to time.

If you’re not quite ready to get serious or to even have a talk about getting serious yet, our dating experts recommend icebreakers based on a fun relationship question that might help you discover how good a fit your date is. Questions like “What’s your most bizarre talent,” or “Would you prefer to swim with sharks or go skydiving” can reveal a surprising amount about another person, above and beyond the specific question. You can use those answers to build chemistry and get to know the other person better.

Ask the Right Questions to Get Heartfelt Answers

Fun relationship quizzes exist for every scenario whether you want to find out your significant other’s love language, figure out whether you and a potential partner are meant to be, or need to know why your relationships keep going wrong. An online quiz can help you improve your love life, build a healthy relationship, or examine your mental health, all without expensive therapy.

Ask the right question, and you might just fall in love!
