The Short Version: It’s safe to say that first dates can be nerve-wracking. Choosing the right time and place to meet makes all the difference. That’s why the right restaurant, bar, or brewery can play an important role in a budding relationship. From first dates to casual date nights, the Old Stove Brewing Co. is a perfect hangout spot for singles to come together for a nice buzz. As an award-winning brewery, Old Stove Brewing Co. continues to impress Seattle natives and visitors with its crafted beer.
Going out on dates is such a fun time to explore and discover what you like and who you want as a partner. According to Psychology Today, first dates are pivotal to the success of new relationships.
Whether you’re sharing a good conversation or counting the minutes until you can go home, first dates are an excellent way to see if you’re compatible with someone. You must set yourself up for success when selecting where to go for first dates. You don’t want to choose a noisy place where you’re unable to hear one another nervously attempt to make conversation – and you don’t want to go somewhere too intimate and add unnecessary pressure to your first face-to-face encounter.
First dates require a setting that allows you to get to know your date while having something to entertain you both. Located in Seattle, the Old Stove Brewery Co. serves top beer in a chill environment that makes the perfect first date for anyone looking to have a good time. Old Stove Brewing Co. was founded by two passionate entrepreneurs, Chris Moore and Brian Stan. After sharing conversations and making sketches on bar napkins, Chris and Brian turned their dreams into reality in 2016.
“Chris and I have always shared a passion for the craft brewing industry,” said Brian. “When the opportunity arose for a new tenant in the Market’s Marketfront expansion project, we jumped on it.”
Brian told us that Old Stove Brewing was approved to become the anchor tenant of the MarketFront in Pike Place Market in 2017.
Old Stove has become the go-to spot for a tasteful craft beer experience like no other. The vision for the well-established brewery is to carry on the Market’s “Meet the Producer” tradition and produce enticing beer that will keep customers coming back wanting more.
“Old Stove always leaves me buzzing, full, and happy! great view! Great brews! great service! Happy hour prices make it just that much better! I am never disappointed when I come to the Old Stove! They nail it every time!” said a happy customer in a review.
Since 2017 Old Stove has been on a winning streak in the brewery industry. It has 16 rotating beers on tap, and customers can’t go wrong with any of them.
The Old Stove Brewing Co. has won many awards including the gold award for best of craft beer for its Smoke Show beer. The fan-favorite brewery has also received recognition in various magazines for establishing its status as not only a brewery that sells spot-on beer but a haven for people to connect and meet.
Couples on a date can split an order of pretzel bites and cheese to pair with their favorite beers. They may also want to save room for dessert because the Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, made with ice cream flavors of the day, is certainly worth a try.
“What a fantastic place to stop and take a break from touristing!” exclaimed Rick, an Old Stove customer in a review. “Our server, Brooke, was not just a great server but also provided some awesome suggestions of places for us to see and do. The beer was outstanding and the beer cheese with the pretzel bites was ridiculous! Do not miss it!”
When asked what makes Old Stove unique, Brian told us that the community the brewery has built in Seattle sets it apart. The Old Stove team prioritizes creating an unforgettable experience for customers who want to take a break from the stresses of daily life. From the award-winning beer to the classic bar food, people can expect something delicious to try at the brewery with every visit.
“We try to plan and build out destination locations for people to enjoy the Old Stove experience,” Brian said.
The Old Stove Brewing Co. is currently located off Western Avenue in the historic Pike Place Market’s Producers hall. The 80-foot western window walls allow guests to experience breathtaking views of Elliot Bay, the Olympic Mountains, and marine traffic, especially during sunset. Sharing a brew and a table for two here can set up a perfect moment for romance to blossom and new relationships to start.
When Brian and Chris opened Old Stove, they knew that was only the beginning of something much greater. Expanding has always been a goal that the Old Stove team had. Since its opening, the Old Stove has expanded into various areas across Washington.
“The initial concept for Old Stove was centered on bringing people together and building community,” said Chris. “With this expansion, we’re excited to introduce a welcoming space in the city for locals and visitors to come together around craft beer in addition to Old Stove’s existing taproom at Pike Place Market.”
As Chris and Brian plan to expand Old Stove even further, daters will soon have twice as many options when looking for an Old Stove classic. Right now the brewery has a total of 24 taps of craft beer made on site as well as local cider, wine, and a from-scratch daily rotating food menu customers can enjoy. The team is planning to enlarge its menu to present customers with even more flavors — making a second visit seem like the first.
“Wonderful dinner with beautiful views of the waterfront. The beer selection was wide and the food was delicious. I visited this restaurant twice while in town this time and was even more impressed the second time around. Great staff, friendly bartenders, and overall a wonderful experience!” said an Old Stove customer in a review.
Old Stove recently opened a new location in the heart of North Queen Anne’s maritime district. The 50-seat 49er Taproom and beer garden give locals plenty of room to flirt, converse, and mingle in its 24,000-square-foot space. Daters have the perfect chance to get to know one another a little better while enjoying a nice breeze in the open air.
Although COVID-19 was a major setback for local eateries and breweries, Old Stove didn’t let the changes stop its growth or dampen its community spirit. Since 2020, Old Stove’s team has adjusted the brewery’s daily operations and currently follows state guidelines to ensure the safety of guests and employees is taken into consideration.
The brewery is open for outdoor, indoor, and to-go orders, allowing daters the option to choose what best suits their needs. Maybe they’d like to hang out at one of the 14 picnic tables in the beer garden, or maybe they’re more comfortable grabbing beer to go and enjoying an at-home date.
The Old Stove team mentioned that the MarketFront’s outdoor seating area became a prime gathering space during the pandemic, so they expanded it to accomodate more customers looking for fresh air and social distance.
Brian told us that the Old Stove team will continue to explore new and unique destination breweries. In addition to the Ship Canal, Brian and Chris are on a mission to find new locations for people to connect and expand their retail sales in the Seattle area, giving beer lovers even more to enjoy both at home and at the brewery.
“This place was a pleasant surprise. The beer was excellent and the food did not disappoint. It was a little bit of a wait but well worth it. Would recommend this place to anyone who is a beer lover,” said an Old Stove customer in a review.
