The internet is a great place for reading current events, learning something new, expanding your horizons, or, say, reading an XDating review. When you’re on the web, you can find pretty much anything and everything — no matter how weird, rare, or unobtainable it seems to be in the real world.

Even like-minded people are easy to find online. Looking for a hookup buddy? You have plenty of sex sites to choose from, including XDating.com, one of the first online dating services dedicated to casual sex. We’ve reviewed all the components of XDating below, and you’ll also see an alternative hookup site we think you should look into.

XDating Review | An Alternative Hookup Site

XDating.com has been on the online dating scene for a good long while now (since 1999), but we wouldn’t say it’s one of the most reliable. There’s not a lot of information on the adult site, so you’re left with a lot of questions, and you can’t get a feel for the brand or the team behind it. XDating is also very visually oriented, as you might imagine, with sexually explicit photos and videos all over the place. Not appropriate for browsing in public or at work.

The good thing is that XDating’s registration process literally takes a few seconds — just give them your email address, password, and birth date. That’s all it takes to start browsing hot profiles, but you can fill out more information if you want. The more you share, the more people will be attracted to you.

You must be at least 18 to join, and we saw members as old as 65 here. It seems to be particularly popular among sexually active adults in their 30s and 40s.

The Dating Center is where everything goes down. On the right, you’ll see things like who’s online now, who’s nearby, who’s viewed your profile, who’s liked you, and who’s messaged you. On the left, you’ll see suggested matches, which will show up even if you haven’t filled out your profile or specified your preferred gender and other characteristics. The adult dating site says they’ll match you as you like people and they like you back, but we’re not sure if that’s really the case — since we did a bare-bones profile and still received matches.

You’re able to find matches on your own with search filters that allow you to sort by gender, location, age, who’s online now, username, and profiles with pictures.

The XDating homepage says you can contact any member (chat and messaging), view their updates, and watch their videos, but what the homepage doesn’t say is you can’t do that with a free account. You’ll have to pay, and then you can do all of that as well as get higher search result placement.

The cost is $29.95 a month for one month or $19.98 a month for three months, which you pay in a lump sum of $59.95. Note: XDating does not have a refund policy, so if you end up canceling your membership, you won’t get that money back no matter the circumstance.

Another helpful feature on XDating is Safe Mode, which is available to everyone. When you switch on Safe Mode, all the nude and semi-nude photos are grayed out, and you can’t access the X-rated videos. It’s a little more respectable, but  you can still talk dirty to people online.

In terms of customer service, XDating does a pretty good job because you have a variety of ways to get in touch. You can use the contact form or email support@xdating.com. The hookup site insists, as do we, that you don’t send money, checks, money orders, or photos through the mail. They won’t process it, and if it gets lost, you’re out of luck.

A big downside to XDating is its poor reputation. When you search for the sex site in Google, you’ll find tons of user complaints as well as numerous articles discussing if it’s a scam or not. Walter R., who left his comment on SiteJabber, is just one of them.

“This so-called dating site is a scammers paradise! I was a non-paying member and got over, yes over, 145 messages in my inbox. Once I became a paying member, I’d got zero, nada, zip, not a single reply to my messages. I warn all who go there: beware! You’re gonna get scammed!” he said.

Yikes. We’ll admit that XDating hasn’t given us much reason to say anything different than what Walter said. Even with our half-completed profile, we instantly received a lot of messages, which seemed to be copy/pasted and generic, and that seems a little suspicious, to say the least. The XDating app does have four stars for iPhone, but that’s only out of seven reviews — most of which seem fake.

The bottom line is that, yes, XDating is free, offers affordable memberships, and has a lot of cool bells and whistles — but it’s hard to say that the hookup site is trustworthy and will work for you. Just proceed with caution and don’t expect to meet a lot of real people or get laid right away.

As you can see from our XDating review, it may be easy to join, but it doesn’t guarantee users success, and a lot of members complain about running into scams and fake profiles.

You can find practically anything and anyone online, but sometimes you find things you don’t want. XDating might be one of those things. Of course, it’s up to you to decide, but we’d look elsewhere for sex if we were you. There’s just too much talk out there about the sex site being sketchy. And we can’t ignore all the bad reviews.

Joining XDating could be a waste of time and money if you’re honestly hoping to hook up with a real person real quick. We’re not saying it can’t happen here — just be wary and keep your options open.
