I turn to Reddit for advice on practically everything: makeup, fashion, tech, media, work, and yes, even relationships and dating. The platform makes it easy to find out what other people think of certain dating apps or sites and what their experiences have been in the online dating world.

If you’re a lesbian or bisexual woman looking to date other women, you might be curious about what the dating app landscape is for queer women. If that sounds familiar, Reddit has plenty of information for you. While the platform’s users don’t always have positive things to say about online dating, we picked some reviews that were encouraging about certain dating apps that work for lesbian women.

Here are the best lesbian dating apps, according to Reddit.

Match is one of the most well-established names in the online dating world. The intuitive platform has a robust user base of more than 7 million paid members. That makes it easier for users to find someone who interests them.

Reddit user MamaRoux13 shared in a lesbian subreddit that Match was a part of her love story with her wife.

“I met my partner through a combo of in-person meeting and online. We first met at a university LGBT alumni event I helped coordinate (that’s a nice way for college grads to meet interesting women, btw), then she looked me up online (Match) and saw that I had a profile,” MamaRoux13 wrote.

She continued, “She used the online profile info to ask me out on a date. We’re married now. I met previous gfs through book clubs and other in-person social activities. My advice? Keep a profile up but don’t rely on it as the primary avenue to meet women. As others on this post have already noted, online dating can be a way to practice asking women out and going on dates. But it can also be a waste of time.”

2. HER

HER is a queer dating app designed for queer, lesbian, bi, nonbinary, trans, and gender nonconforming individuals. It offers a free tier that allows you to match and chat with others, join online communities, and customize your profile. A premium subscription unlocks additional features, including incognito mode browsing, search filters, and seeing who’s online now.

Multiple Reddit users on a thread asking for a good lesbian dating app recommended HER. User TA2682 said “Her is the best imo” and MagicKraft agreed, writing “HER is by far the best one.”

3. Bumble

Another popular dating app is the women-centric app Bumble. Though it’s not designed specifically for lesbians or queer women, it is female-founded and encourages women to make the first move. For heterosexual matches, women must send the first message; for same-sex matches, either person can send the first message. It’s completely free to create a profile and start chatting with matches, though the platform offers paid subscriptions with features that many find useful.

Multiple Reddit users shared positive thoughts on Bumble in a thread about whether the app was good for lesbian dating. “I’m a woman who dates women and I definitely get some great matches on Bumble,” shared user vikingthundergoddess. “Her is also great. It depends on the market. I recommend signing up for both so you don’t miss any amazing women!”

User EightByteOwl wrote, “Other comments suggesting Her, and while it’s a good app, I honestly have had far more success on Bumble! Depends on the area but I’ve had no issue meeting some great people on here.”

4. Lex

Lex is a good social app to consider if you’re a woman looking to date other women. The app, which previously had been designed as a dating app for queer women, was revamped in 2023. It now functions as an LGBTQ+ social platform where people of many different genders and orientations can pursue platonic relationships and learn about LGBTQ+ events in their areas. Despite the update, Lex remains a platform where single women can find romantic connections if they desire.

In a Reddit thread about the best lesbian dating apps, user likelyalesbian wrote, “Lex is the best one imo. Met some really quality people through it.”

Although Lex isn’t specifically for dating anymore, it may be a good way to find interesting local events. And who knows? Maybe your next romantic partner will be at one of these meetups.

5. OkCupid

OkCupid is a dating site and app that uses a unique algorithm to connect people. It collects data on everything from how many words you use in an introductory message to whether you prefer cats or dogs. It uses all of that information to assess your profile and connect you with people you might be compatible with.

And it is a good dating app for lesbians, according to Reddit user itssummeragain. “I met my partner on OkCupid a few years ago,” she wrote in a thread about lesbian dating apps. “I haven’t been on since so idk if it still does this, but I was able to choose to see other cis lesbians, cis bi women. It was pretty awesome though because you could choose each group specifically and only people who are interested in your chosen group will see you. You can also put multiple orientations like asexual + lesbian, which is how my partner ended up in my pool (turns out we’re not asexual, just lesbians lol).”

Itssummeragain shared that the only potential downside of OkCupid is the fact that either person can message first so “it may be a little nerve-wracking for shy people.”

6. Facebook Dating

You might think of Facebook as a social media platform where you can keep up with long-distance family and friends, but it also has a built-in dating app feature. Facebook Dating can connect users based on shared interests. It launched in 2018 and is completely free to use.

On a Reddit community called Late Bloomer Lesbians, a user called bellatransgirl asked people to share their favorite dating apps for lesbians.

“I’ve tried just about every wlw dating app over the course of seven years, but surprisingly I’ve had the most success on Facebook Dating!” shared user PinkPigtailsPrincess. “There’s so many lesbians and bisexual women on it.”

7. Tinder

If you’re at all familiar with the online dating landscape, you’ve heard of Tinder. It was the first app to offer the swipe matching feature and it reportedly is responsible for more than 1.5 million dates per week. With a massive user base, it’s easy for people of any orientation to find someone who interests them.

The key to successful lesbian dating on Tinder, according to Reddit user DorianGreysPortrait, is to be upfront about what you want. On a Reddit thread about online dating as a lesbian, she shared, “I’ve had two very successful relationships from Tinder, one that lasted for two years and another for a year. IMO, it’s all in how you use it. If a girl is being dodgy or wanting to play games, I just move on.”

Her advice to the user asking for advice was: “Maybe try being a little more forthcoming with what you want out of it?”

8. PinkCupid

PinkCupid is a lesbian dating site backed by the Cupid Media brand. The niche dating platform is designed for lesbian singles and caters to those who want long-term relationships rather than casual encounters

In a Reddit thread about lesbian dating apps, one user shared, “PinkCupid is similar to OkCupid but it’s just for lesbians and more so catered to finding serious relationships and not just hookups. I like it because you can fill out really descriptive bios so it’s easier to find out if you have a lot in common with someone.”

Reddit Users Have a Lot of Different Opinions on Dating Apps

Reddit can be a valuable source of information on many subjects, including dating. Learning about other people’s experiences on lesbian dating apps can help you decide which apps or sites might be right for you.

That said, while Reddit users can give you a sense of how online dating worked for them, you’ll never know how it works for you until you give it a try.
